beta124.08

GameMaker walkthrough and Code watch walkthrough: both new, step by step with screenshots from the console.

No new gen2 fork: this release uses the same one as beta124.07 (v0.20).

GameMaker: from a memory search to a cheat

A memory search is often the quickest way to find a value. On a GameMaker game you can now go from the value you found straight to a cheat.

  1. Find the value with a search and open it in Memory Explorer.
  2. With the cursor on it, press Class field (ZL+ZR+Y).
  3. Breeze finds the object the value belongs to and opens its variables by name, with the cursor on yours. The title says which object it is, for example oPlayer.
  4. Press Make cheat (ZL+Plus), as in beta124.07.

For a global variable this is instant. For a variable of an object such as the player, Breeze has to look through the game's memory first: the screen stands still for about five seconds.

Class field also opens an object when the cursor is on a pointer to one.

Code watch: Search

Search (ZL+R) on the Code watch screen finds watched functions by name. Type words separated by spaces; a function is listed when every word is in its Class::Method name, in any case. player melee finds PlayerMelee::DoMeleeAttack.

The list shows each match as new, called or not called, so you can see at once whether the function you had in mind ran. Select, Go to caller and Watch methods work on its lines. An empty search, or Back, ends it.

Fixes

  • Mark did nothing with the Home toggle on Fast restart. In that mode Breeze restarts at every HOME press and forgot the mark, so everything counted as new. The mark is now kept.
