Guide: Make cheat, with screenshots
Memory Explorer has a new button: Make cheat (ZL + D-pad Down).
When Memory Explorer shows a value through a pointer chain (the status line starts with z= and the chain), Make cheat turns that chain into a cheat. It can do two things the other cheat buttons cannot:
- write to every element of an array at once: every enemy, every party member, every slot of an inventory;
- write under a condition, or copy another field.
What to press
- In Memory Explorer, put the cursor on the value for a cheat on that one value, or on the array element for a cheat on all of them. ZL+B and ZL+Y move along the chain.
- Press Make cheat (ZL + D-pad Down). The screen shows every step of the chain with its name, and for an array every element with its current value.
- Set the Value (Y) and the Write mode (ZL+X).
- Press Make cheat (X) and give it a name. The cheat is added switched off; turn it on in Cheats.
| Write mode | What the cheat does | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Always | writes the value every time | ammo, money, a timer |
| Where above | writes it only where the current value is higher | enemies: HP goes to 1 once, and your hit still kills them |
| Where below | writes it only where the current value is lower | a floor: HP never under 50 |
| Copy | writes another field's value | hero: HP = max HP |
For Copy, Breeze suggests a field by name. To choose it yourself press Copy from (ZL+Y): the object opens in the field view, you go to the field you want (through other objects if needed, with View class) and press Pick source (ZR+Plus).
For an array, Breeze reads the list's own size from the game when it can, so the cheat follows the list as enemies come and go.
The guide walks through all of it with pictures, including how to read the cheat that comes out.
Good to know
- You need a pointer chain first: a pointer bookmark, a chain from Find chain, or Jump to target (ZL + D-pad Right) from a pointer cheat in Edit Cheat.
- A cheat is only as lasting as its chain. In the game used for the guide, the chain to the enemy list is different in every level, so the enemy cheat has to be made again there.
- Tried on a Unity game. Unreal arrays and 32-bit games have not been tried yet.
Fixed
- A secondary search on candidates saved from the Unity menu no longer crashes Breeze.
