This page contains the downloadable BETA TEST files v0.39d for a binary install on Linux, Windows and Mac
This beta release is reasonably well tested and indicative of what v0.40 will look like.
Your feed back, especially about the new File Link feature would be invaluable !
New Since v0.39
- Recompiled so that it can use openssl 3.0
- Rewrite of the PDF export tool. Now uses embedded fonts, the resulting pdf will be usable anywhere.
- Some bug fixes to bullet functions.
- New Feature - File Links. You can now embed a link to a local file or directory in a note, just type the the keyword file://path to the file in question, such as file://myprettypicture.png and it will be marked as a link. Click the link and, if your computer knows how to open it, it will be so opened. Press Alt-F (for file) or Alt-D (for Directory) or use the Tools menu or Right Click where you want the link.
- The link (that is, the path to your file and the file name itself) must be wrapped with inverted commas if it contains a space.
- Remember, if you sync your notes to another machine, the links will still show up but the file may not be present. Tomboy-ng does not check that the link it shows you is valid, that is up to you. But will give (hopefully helpful) messages if you do try to open a file that is not present.
- On Linux, at least, if the operating system does not know how to open a linked file, we don't get told, it just does not open. This is being worked on.
- Important to note here, tomboy-ng trusts the links you enter, it does not check in any way that they are valid. Your operating system is told about the file (or directory), it decides how to open it, not tomboy-ng.
Qt5 and Qt6 users will probably have to install a new libqt5pas1 or libqt6pas6 libraries, your distro version is most probably not suitable (unless you are using Debian Testing or Ubuntu 24.04). Get the new libraries from the links below and install them before or at the same time as you install tomboy-ng. Other Linux distributions will catch up but not immediately.

As usual, the file ending in .exe is for Windows (32bit and 64bit) and th file ending in .dmg is for Mac (both Intel and Arm). The remainder are for Linux, we have debs and rpms. Also tgz files for those running systems not otherwise covered.
(sorry, no 64bit Raspberry Pi or Packman at this early stage.)
Note : files here refreshed April 22.
