This page contains the downloadable BETA TEST files v0.39b for a binary install on Linux, Windows and Mac

Your feed back, especially about the new File Link feature would be invaluable !

New Since v0.39

  • Recompiled so that it can use openssl 3.0
  • Rewrite of the PDF export tool. Now uses embedded fonts, the resulting pdf will be usable anywhere.
  • Some bug fixes to bullet functions.
  • New Feature - File Links. You can now embed a link to a local file or directory in a note, just type the the keyword file://path to the file in question, such as file://myprettypicture.png and it will be marked as a link. Click the link and, if your computer knows how to open it, it will be so opened. When you type in file:// tomboy-ng will immediatly make it as a link (but, obviously at this stage, an empty one). Press Ctrl-L, click the Link Button or click the link itself to popup a file selection dialog. Or, if you know the path and filename, keep typing. As usual, the ~ character is a short cut to your home directory. But there are some issues -
  1. The link (that is, the path to your file and the file name itself) must be wrapped with inverted commas if it contains a space.
  2. At present, you can use the file selection dialog to open a file but if you want a directory, sadly, you have to type it in.
  3. Remember, if you sync your notes to another machine, the links will still show up but the file may not be present. Tomboy-ng does not check that the link it shows you is valid, that is up to you. But will give (hopefully helpful) messages if you do try to open a file that is not present.
  4. On Linux, at least, if the operating system does not know how to open a linked file, we don't get told, it just does not open. This is being worked on.

Qt5 and Qt6 users MUST install a new libqt5pas1 or libqt6pas6 libraries, your distro version is almost certainly not suitable (unless you are using Debian Testing). Get the new libraries from the links below and install them before or at the same time as you install tomboy-ng. Other Linux distributions will catch up but not immediately.

Note : Github likes to hide the download files. Please click the word "Assets" immediately below here and, perhaps "Show all assets" below the list of download files if you don't see the one you want.

As usual, the file ending in .exe is for Windows (32bit and 64bit) and th file ending in .dmg is for Mac (both Intel and Arm). The remainder are for Linux, we have debs and rpms. Also tgz files for those running systems not otherwise covered.

(sorry, no 64bit Raspberry Pi or Packman at this early stage.)
