Native VR ports of Half-Life 2, Episode One and Episode Two for standalone
Meta Quest headsets. Developed and tested on Quest 3.

Each game is a separate, independent APK — download only the ones you want.

Game Download Package
Half-Life 2 SourceVRPort-hl2-0.1.12.apk com.sourcevrport.hl2vr
Episode One SourceVRPort-ep1-0.1.12.apk com.sourcevrport.ep1vr
Episode Two SourceVRPort-ep2-0.1.12.apk com.sourcevrport.ep2vr

Install with SideQuest, or:

adb install SourceVRPort-hl2-0.1.12.apk

No game content is included. You supply your own retail copy, from a Steam install
on the steam_legacy branch (PatchVersion 8491853). Episode One additionally needs
Half-Life 2's content, and Episode Two needs both. See the
README for the full requirements and for how to import your
game folders on first launch.

Your saves and settings are kept per game and are not touched by an update.

What's new

Multiview is fixed and on by default again

0.1.11 shipped it off because world geometry could flicker in and out as you moved. If you
set vr_multiview 0 at the console on that advice, set it back to 1 — the value is
remembered per game in cfg/config.cfg and survives this update, so a manual 0 will keep
you on the old path.

Application SpaceWarp (experimental, off by default, may cause visual defects)

A new checkbox in Graphics. It hands the headset a depth image each frame so the compositor
can fill in the frames the game misses. Your own head movement and walking are reconstructed
exactly; things that move through the world on their own can smear, and your hands, weapon
and vehicle interiors are deliberately held still. The toggle takes effect on the next
frame, so it is easy to try mid-level and turn straight back off.

Unsupported Steam builds can now be launched

Missing or damaged files are still refused. A copy that is complete and undamaged and merely
reports a different PatchVersion now offers "Launch this build anyway…" — per game, and
reversible from the same screen. A different Steam build ships different maps, scripts and
model formats, so the game may crash on launch or break part-way through. If something
misbehaves, this is the first thing to undo.

Workshop and custom weapon pack support

The custom/ slot now outranks the bundled VR assets, so a reskin reaches the weapons in
your hands instead of only the ones lying on the floor. A .vpk sitting inside a
custom/<folder>/ — the shape a Workshop item downloads as — is now mounted rather than
silently ignored, and a malformed or truncated pack is refused instead of making the app
unbootable. Push packs to /sdcard/SourceVRPort/common/hl2/custom/.

Smaller fixes

  • The SMG's red-dot sight renders again.
  • Saves imported from non-VR Half-Life 2 are usable.
  • "Fix upside-down weapons" (Hands page, off by default).
  • "Trigger drops pistol slide" (Combat page, off by default). With it on, the first
trigger pull after reloading an empty pistol drops the slide and chambers a round, and
the second fires. With it off, you rack the slide by hand as before.
  • "Stick must be touched" (Locomotion page, on by default). Turn it off if your
thumbstick steers fine but snap turn, jump and crouch do nothing.
  • More graphics settings are now in the menu rather than console-only: flashlight
shadows, effect shading detail, texture filtering, water reflection detail, distant
animation reuse and worker-thread model preparation.

The eye-resolution list has also gained a 2880 x 3016 (171%) entry, however it is
experimental and may cause crashes. Eye resolution is applied at startup, so if it
does leave the game unable to launch, set vr_eye_resolution back to auto in
cfg/config.cfg.
