cloudflare-ddns v2.3.1 — Distrust compromised eMudhra CAs
Security
- Compromised eMudhra CA keys are rejected (CVE-2026-111943, #311). The
private keys of several emSign (eMudhra) intermediate CAs are compromised.
On Linux, server certificates are verified by rustls-webpki, which now
(0.103.16, RUSTSEC-2026-0382) refuses any chain containing one of those
keys, so they cannot be used to impersonate the Cloudflare API and capture
the API token, or to spoof IP detection and notification endpoints. macOS
and Windows builds verify through the OS trust store and are covered by OS
updates. Thanks to @arminfabritzek for the report. - The image no longer trusts the affected emSign roots. Its CA bundle
comes from Alpineca-certificates20261020-r0 or newer, which removes
emSign ECC Root CA - G3, emSign ECC Root CA - C3 and emSign Root CA - C1,
and the build fails instead of shipping an older bundle. The2and2.3
images published before this release still trust those roots.
Dependencies
- rustls-webpki 0.103.16, webpki-root-certs 1.0.11 (RUSTSEC-2026-0383),
h2 0.4.20 (RUSTSEC-2026-0258), anyhow 1.0.104 (RUSTSEC-2026-0190),
rustls 0.23.46, tokio 1.54.1, serde_json 1.0.154,
docker/login-action 4.7.0. webpki-root-certs, h2 and anyhow are not in
the release binary; updating them clearscargo audit.
