github timmo001/system-bridge 5.12.3

Stops the Windows CPU and GPU modules starting a new process for every reading, which slowly grew Windows' kernel memory use over hours of uptime.

Windows

  • Read CPU and GPU data in process instead of running typeperf, PowerShell and powercfg on every update. Exited processes built up and the kernel page table grew over long uptimes (#4409, fixes #3806):
    • Read DPC time, context switches, interrupts, system calls and the power meter through the PDH API. Counters are added by their English names, so they now work on non-English Windows too.
    • Query Win32_Processor, MSAcpi_ThermalZoneTemperature and Win32_VideoController through WMI in process.
    • Read the power plan's minimum processor state with the power API instead of parsing powercfg output.
  • nvidia-smi on NVIDIA systems and NowPlaying.exe for media still run on update.

Dependencies

  • Use github.com/yusufpapurcu/wmi directly. It was already in the module graph through gopsutil.

Maintenance

  • Update shared skills.
