Fix: the launcher could never update itself
Once the rVclient launcher was installed, it stayed on that build forever.
Why: the installer only checked whether a launcher was present - if one was, it launched it and exited without ever comparing versions. The mod's own updater deliberately does not touch launcher files, so nothing else was going to do it either.
Fix: the installer now records which build it installed and compares on every game launch. When a newer one is available it updates automatically - no prompt, since you already agreed to have the launcher. A running launcher is asked to close first (so a config write in flight is not truncated), then reopened when the update finishes.
The launcher shows its real version now
It displayed v1.0.0-beta.3 - a number that appeared nowhere else: not on the site, not in the changelog, not in the release you installed. It now shows the rVclient version, which is the honest answer to "what am I running".
The rail also claimed "You are up to date" at all times, with nothing checking it. It now states what is actually known: which build is installed.
From 1.7.19
- The first Global message of a session went nowhere - it was sent before the worldwide room finished connecting, so it was accepted and discarded. Messages typed during the join are now queued and sent once it connects.
From 1.7.18
- Global chat is genuinely worldwide - it reaches every server, via a second text-only room. Voice and Nearby stay pinned to your server.
From 1.7.17
- The rVclient launcher (beta), rvclient:// invite links, voice mute actually muting voice, and Discord rejoin/Join fixes.
Known limitations
- The launcher's Friends tab is placeholder data for now.
- Friends seeing "Launch Game" instead of "Join"? That is Discord > User Settings > Activity Privacy, not the mod.
