v1.7.2 (Current Build) - New: Open mic icebreaker, full mic mute, smoother spatial audio
- New: the first time you meet another player nearby, both your mics open
hands-free for about 20 seconds - no need to hold push-to-talk, just say
hi. Falls back to normal push-to-talk after, and happens again next time
you meet someone new (or re-meet someone after being apart a while).
New Settings > Audio > Method option, "Push to Talk + Open Mic" -
plain "Push to Talk" never opens hands-free if you'd rather not use it
(voice_open_mic_intro, default on). - New: a dedicated master mute hotkey (default M, voice_mute_key). Press
it to instantly and completely lock your mic - even push-to-talk won't
get through until you unmute. Press again to unmute. A toast confirms
each press ("Your mic is muted" / "Your mic is unmuted"), and the
on-screen overlay shows "- mic muted" next to your name the whole time
you're muted. Great for AFK - no more accidental hot mics. - New: you can rebind Push-to-Talk and the master mute key yourself,
in-game, to any key or mouse button - hold Ctrl+P (Push-to-Talk) or
Ctrl+M (Mute), then press whatever you want to use; it saves to
RVVoiceConfig.txt and works immediately, no relaunch needed. Esc
cancels. - New: a player facing away from you now sounds a bit more muffled/
distant than one facing toward you at the same range - like real voice
projection (voice_facing_muffle, default on). Separate from spatial
audio's left/right panning (about YOUR facing) and distance fade
(range only) - all three stack together. - Improved: spatial audio's left/right panning now transitions smoothly
as a player moves or you turn, instead of updating in small steps. - Fixed: voice chat could stay "live" for several seconds into a real
connection timeout before muting, because the previous disconnect-mute
only fired once the game itself formally declared the timeout. Voice
chat now watches the connection directly and mutes within about 8
seconds of no new data from the game server, independent of however
long the game's own timeout takes to trigger. Kicks, travel errors, and
explicit returns to the main menu still mute instantly as before. - Fixed: the open-mic icebreaker now also respects a disconnect-mute -
any pending/active open-mic window clears immediately on disconnect,
and proximity is checked fresh once you're back in a session, instead
of possibly resuming a stale countdown.
