Node.js is kept current now. Setup used to install one fixed Node version, and only when none was on the box at all. It now asks nodejs.org for the newest LTS each time it runs, checks the installer against the official checksum before running it, and updates a Node that is already there when it has fallen behind a security fix or sits on a line that no longer gets them.

This matters today: Node.js released fixes on 21 October for CVE-2026-111497, remote code execution in Node's Brotli decoder. The version setup used to install is below that fix.

Already running a server? Your server files update themselves as always - but Node does not. Re-run Setup-RVServer.bat on your server once to pick the fix up. It keeps your settings, modes and game files; it does refresh the server files and restart your servers, so do it when nobody is playing.

Also in this build: the region check knows Middle East and USA Central, so boxes there are measured properly instead of being matched to the nearest region that happened to have an endpoint.

The server itself still comes from the newest server kit - setup downloads it for you.

Get started

1. Download RVServer-Setup.zip below and extract it anywhere.
2. Read README.txt inside, then double-click Setup-RVServer.bat.
