taiko-geth v2.8.0
This consensus-sensitive release fixes the EVM gas limit used during Taiko block building, adds Glamsterdam L1 header compatibility, and fixes Prometheus metrics after transaction-list witness requests.
Consensus and compatibility
- Set the protocol gas limit on both the block header and the sealing EVM context in both Taiko block-building paths. This makes the
GASLIMITopcode return the same value during block building and import, preventing execution discrepancies. See #615. - Preserve the EIP-7928
blockAccessListHashcommitment in L1 header JSON/RLP encoding, header copies, and RPC responses. This keeps locally computed L1 header hashes consistent with the canonical RPC hashes used for anchor construction and reorg checks. See #611. - Reject
blockAccessListHashandslotNumberin Taiko L2 headers across all supported eras, and reject block access list commitments before Amsterdam in non-Taiko Beacon header validation.
The L1 header changes provide header compatibility; they do not add full Ethereum Amsterdam/BAL execution support.
RPC and observability
- Use a Prometheus-safe prefetcher metric namespace for
debug_executionWitnessForTxList. This prevents transaction-list witness requests from causing subsequent Prometheus scrapes to fail. See #613.
Upgrade notes
All node runners still using taiko-geth are strongly encouraged to upgrade to v2.8.0 as soon as possible. This includes both block producers and nodes deriving blocks from L1.
Users already running alethia-reth do not need to upgrade their nodes for this taiko-geth release.
