2.5.0 (2026-06-12) is a release for the Taiko mainnet for the upcoming Unzen fork.

This release defaults to our new high-performance Rust execution client based on Reth, alethia-reth! This can be seen in our .env file, where COMPOSE_PROFILES=reth_execution_engine. Users may speed up their sync progress upon switching with our new public L2 alethia-reth snapshots at https://snapshots.taiko.xyz/.

To continue using taiko-geth, set COMPOSE_PROFILES=geth_execution_engine.
