v2.6.4 Release notes

Release date: 2024-08-27

This is a minor release for ProxySQL 2.6 series containing some enhancements and several bug fixes.

Compared to version 2.6.3, ProxySQL 2.6.4 introduces the following changes:

New features and enhancements

Major

• Updated OpenSSL to v3.3.1 #4561
• Added support for Ubuntu 24 and Fedora 40 #4541

Minor

• Improved parsing of text protocol USE queries #4605
• Disabled AWS RDS topology auto-discovery by default #4578
• Improved reading resiliency for certificate files for backend connections #4577
• Improved stability for SSL connections getting SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL #e81895ed
• In Galera monitoring, logging of nodes status is now conditional to mysql-hostgroup_manager_verbose #4613

Bug Fixes

Major

• Fixed invalid client connections termination due to dirty SSL error queue #4555, #4602
• Fixed control chars polluting query digests with empty spaces #4554
  • Users need to revisit their mysql_query_rules config if they take these extra spaces into account!
• Fixed COM_CHANGE_USER not working with user hashed passwords for native_mysql_password #4623
  • This is a regression introduced in v2.6.0, v2.5.x and previous are not affected.
• Fixed crash for COM_CHANGE_USER packets with hashed password for caching_sha2_password #4619
  • COM_CHANGE_USER is still unsupported in combination caching_sha2_password, as stated in the
    official documentation.

Minor

• Fixed memory leak during SAVE MYSQL USERS FROM RUNTIME #4570
• Fixed several potential overflows in ProxySQL_Cluster fetching operations #4573
• Fixed first fetch value for connection_pool Prometheus metrics #4620
