- Custom background image for beautify — click the "+" button in the gradient picker to choose any image as the beautify background. Image stored persistently, shown as a selectable thumbnail swatch. Aspect-fill rendering with center crop.
- Background blur slider — when a custom background image is active, a Blur slider appears in the beautify options row. Applies CIGaussianBlur (0–50px) to the background image.
- 6 new gradient styles — Emerald, Cherry, Sapphire, Sand, Pure White, Pure Black.
- Annotation copy/paste (Cmd+C/V) — copy selected annotations and paste them as duplicates. Works with text, shapes, and multi-selection. Text annotations: Cmd+C with no text selected copies the whole text box.
- Zero-lag Refined pencil mode — Refined smoothing now draws raw points instantly during the stroke, applying the moving average + Chaikin smoothing retroactively on mouse up. Same visual result, zero input lag.

- Text tool uses standard annotation chrome — committed text annotations now show the same purple selection UI as all other shapes (resize handles, rotate, delete, edit button). Handles actually resize the text box. Double-click to re-enter editing. Removed custom dashed border and move handle.
- Renamed Preferences to Settings — menu item, window title, and all user-facing references updated.
Fixed
- Editor OCR ignoring preference — OCR button in editor now respects the "Copy to clipboard only" setting. OCR window Copy button no longer fails to close (controller retained properly).
- Color wheel checkmark visibility — checkmark now uses dark stroke on light swatches (white, yellow) for contrast.
