Your PS5 and PS4 Remote Play stream, rebuilt by NVIDIA's AI, live, on every frame. ๐ฎ๐ง
โ ๏ธ Experimental test build. It is based on the upcoming PXPlay 3.1.0 and meant for testing: expect bugs, and expect things to change. It runs next to your regular PXPlay (one at a time) and shares your consoles and settings, but keeps its own rendering engine setting.
๐ง Three AI modes, one dropdown
PXPlay now brings three of NVIDIA's machine-learning technologies to your stream, all of them AI models running on the Tensor Cores of your RTX graphics card:
- โก DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution: NVIDIA's AI upscaling brings the stream up to your window's size, sharper and cleaner than ordinary scaling. On by default on every RTX card, nothing to set up.
- ๐๏ธ RTX Video Super Resolution: NVIDIA's AI enhancement for compressed video removes compression artifacts like blocks and edge noise, and upscales the stream. Works with the D3D12, D3D11 and Vulkan renderers.
- ๐ฎ DLSS 5 Neural Rendering (experimental): NVIDIA's newest AI model reworks every frame, with more detail, sharper structure and more natural lighting. Needs an RTX 50 card and a file you add yourself (setup below).
Pick one under Settings โ Video โ DLSS. The list only shows what your graphics card can run.
โ Requirements
All modes need Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics card.
| โก DLSS 4.5 | ๐๏ธ RTX Video | ๐ฎ DLSS 5 (experimental) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Graphics card | RTX 20 series or newer | RTX 20 series or newer | RTX 50 series |
| NVIDIA driver | a current driver | 550.58 or newer | 616.64 or newer for DLSS 5 |
| Renderer | D3D12 | D3D12, D3D11, Vulkan | D3D12 |
| NVIDIA file | included โ | included โ | nvngx_dlssnr.dll 310.8.0.0, you add it (see below)
|
๐ง DLSS 5 (experimental): setup
You need: an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series graphics card, NVIDIA driver 616.64 or newer, and 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
1. Download the DLSS 5 file. PXPlay can't include it, because NVIDIA hasn't released DLSS 5 yet.
- Open the release dlssnr-310.8.0 on GitHub.
- Download
nvngx_dlssnr_310.8.0.zipand extract it. It contains a single file,nvngx_dlssnr.dll. - โ ๏ธ Take exactly this release. The other DLSS NR releases in that repository (310.8.0-RTX40, 310.8.SF and 310.8.SF-v2) are modified builds for RTX 20, 30 and 40 cards, and PXPlay will reject them. Skip newer ones like 310.8.Lecram as well: this build is tested with NVIDIA's original 310.8.0 only.
2. Check the file. Right-click nvngx_dlssnr.dll and choose Properties:
- On the Digital Signatures tab, it must say NVIDIA Corporation.
- On the Details tab, the file version must be 310.8.0.0.
- Optional: in PowerShell, in the folder of the file,
Get-FileHash .\nvngx_dlssnr.dllmust printE16BCF15E16E13F527491CDF7845B2FE6521A738D8F7C9C721866A8496E1FC8E.
3. Turn it on in PXPlay. Open Settings โ Video and set DLSS to DLSS 5 (experimental). Under DLSS 5 runtime, click Choose nvngx_dlssnr.dll... and select the file. After a few seconds it should say "Supplied, signed by NVIDIA and tested on this PC." You only have to do this once: PXPlay keeps its own copy, so you can delete the download afterwards.
4. Start a stream. With the performance overlay on, it shows DLSS5. ๐
Problems? The DLSS 5 runtime row shows why a file was rejected. Please send psplay_log.txt and psplay_d3d12_renderer_log.txt from %APPDATA%\PXPlay\Logs to streamingdv@outlook.com.
โก DLSS 4.5 and ๐๏ธ RTX Video: no setup needed
- DLSS 4.5 is already on with the D3D12 renderer on any RTX card. The overlay shows DLSS 4.5.
- RTX Video: set DLSS to RTX Video. With the D3D11 or Vulkan renderers, set RTX Video Super Resolution to On at the end of Settings โ Video instead. The overlay shows RTX Video.
- Both come with NVIDIA's original files, and PXPlay checks NVIDIA's signature before using them.
โจ More to play with
- Split view for every mode: original on the left, AI on the right. Click or drag in the stream to move the line.
- DLSS 5 style: Default, Natural or Cinematic. Fun fact: despite its name, "Natural" changes the picture the most.
- DLSS 5 fine-tuning: intensity, local structure and local tone (up to 200%), skin structure, NVIDIA Image Scaling, optical flow, scene cut detection and a latency governor.
- Safe by design: before DLSS 5 runs for the first time, PXPlay tests the file in a separate process, so a broken file can't crash PXPlay.
- Fast: on an RTX 5080, a 1080p stream takes DLSS 5 about 5 ms per frame, DLSS 4.5 about 1 ms up to 1440p (plus about 1 ms to measure motion) and RTX Video about 3.7 ms at Ultra.
- Frame generation can still still work on top.
๐ฎ Good to know
DLSS works on the video stream here, not inside the game: there is no depth information, motion is estimated from the video, and the console's compression is already baked in. Results depend a lot on the game and the scene, so try a few and use the split view. RTX Video is made for exactly this kind of compressed video.

๐ Thank you
DLSS 5 in PXPlay wouldn't have been possible without the community projects that explored it first and shared what they found. Big thanks to:
