🚀📦 PXPlay Multi Platform Release

PC v3.0.0 • Android v8.1.1

One of the biggest updates for the PC version of PXPlay is finally released.

After two Beta versions, a lot of testing, feedback and many bug fixes, PXPlay PC v3.0.0 is now available for Windows, Linux and macOS.

This release contains some of the biggest improvements PXPlay has received so far, including local multiplayer support, frame generation and interpolation, a completely new D3D12 rendering pipeline, improved frame pacing, DualSense haptic feedback over Bluetooth, Steam Deck improvements, deeper PSN integration, Steam shortcut support and many additional rendering, controller and quality-of-life improvements.

After the two Beta releases and all the fixes made during testing, v3.0.0 should now be stable and ready for the full release.

The Android version remains on v8.1.1 and is unchanged. Its release notes are included further below for reference.

🖥️ PXPlay PC v3.0.0

Version 3.0.0 is a major milestone for PXPlay on desktop.

A lot of work in this release happened below the surface as well. Rendering, frame pacing, controller handling, startup behavior, PSN integration and direct launching were all improved to make PXPlay faster, smoother and easier to integrate into different gaming setups.

🌟 Major Highlights

👥 Local Multiplayer Support

PXPlay now supports local multiplayer for PS4 and PS5.

Multiple locally connected controllers can now be used during a Remote Play session, making PXPlay much more useful for games that support couch multiplayer.

Just a reminder: when adding additional controllers on your PS5 via Remote Play, the additional player must either use a PSN profile that already exists on the PlayStation and is registered with PXPlay, or sign in with a PSN account that is also present on the console in order to join the session. This is only required for PS5 multiplayer and is not necessary for PS4 multiplayer.

Additional controller mappings for microphone and exiting games were added as well.

🎞️ Frame Generation and Interpolation

PXPlay v3.0.0 introduces frame generation and interpolation support.

This can make Remote Play appear significantly smoother, especially on higher refresh rate displays where the original PlayStation stream frame rate does not fully utilize the display.

Together with the new and improved frame pacing implementations, this is one of the biggest rendering improvements introduced in PXPlay so far.

⚡ New D3D12 Rendering Pipeline on Windows

PXPlay now includes a completely new Direct3D 12 rendering backend on Windows.

Besides offering another modern rendering option, the D3D12 backend creates the foundation for much more advanced GPU-based video processing, upscaling and image enhancement features in the future.

👀 And there is much more coming very soon.

The goal is to make PXPlay offer one of the best video rendering and enhancement pipelines available for Remote Play, with advanced GPU features for many different graphics cards.

More information about this will follow soon. 👀

🧈 Improved Frame Pacing and Streaming Performance

Streaming smoothness has received another major overhaul.

  • Improved frame pacing support for D3D11, D3D12, Metal and Vulkan.
  • Added frame generation and interpolation.
  • Improved streaming performance.
  • Reduced input latency in several rendering paths.
  • Added frame-pacing override settings per console.
  • Improved stream startup behavior.
  • Improved controller initialization times.
  • Improved window-size and fullscreen handling.

🎮 DualSense and Controller Improvements

Controller support continues to be a major focus of PXPlay.

  • Added DualSense haptic feedback over Bluetooth.
  • Added Steam Deck haptic feedback support.
  • Steam Deck touchpads can now be used as the DualSense touchpad.
  • Improved adaptive trigger feedback.
  • DualSense haptic intensity now follows the PlayStation settings.
  • Added controller lightbar and LED forwarding.
  • Added an option to use SDL 3 sensor acceleration with fallback support.
  • Gamepad mappings no longer require every button to be mapped.
  • Added support for custom gamepad mapping files.
  • Fixed keyboard mappings in native rendering views.
  • Improved gamepad navigation in streaming dialogs.

🌐 Remote Console Registration Through PSN

PXPlay can now register supported consoles remotely through PSN.

This significantly improves console setup in situations where the PC and PlayStation are not currently connected to the same local network.

PSN handling in general has also received several improvements:

  • Added remote console registration through PSN.
  • Improved PSN token refresh and warning handling.
  • Improved handling and presentation of expired PSN tokens.
  • Added support for PSN account IDs larger than signed Int64 values.
  • Improved profile and registration handling.
  • Added optional console Wake-Up controls.
  • Added support for saving the 4-digit console PIN.

🎮 Recently Played Games and Direct Game Launching

PXPlay can now display information about your recently played PlayStation games.

Even better, supported games can be started directly on your PlayStation through PSN from PXPlay.

This makes the PXPlay dashboard much more useful as a central starting point for your PlayStation sessions.

  • Added recently played PlayStation game information.
  • Added game artwork and metadata.
  • Games can be started directly on the PlayStation through PSN.
  • Consoles are displayed separately for each profile.
  • Improved profile editing and management.

🔗 Steam Integration and Direct Launch Support

PXPlay can now integrate much better into Steam.

  • Added support for creating PXPlay shortcuts directly in Steam.
  • Registered consoles can be added individually to the Steam library.
  • Steam shortcuts can launch directly into a Remote Play session.
  • Improved Steam launch argument support.
  • Improved direct-launch handling.
  • Improved startup performance for direct launches.

This is especially useful for Steam Deck, handheld gaming PCs and couch gaming setups where PXPlay can now behave much more like a directly installed game.

🧩 Better Third-Party Launcher Integration

PXPlay is also opening up more so that it can be integrated much easier into third-party game launchers and gaming interfaces.

One example is WinHanced:

I am also in contact with the WinHanced developer regarding PXPlay integration.

The goal is to make it easy for launchers to start specific registered PlayStation consoles or directly enter a Remote Play session without requiring additional user interaction.
