PXPlay Android v8.0.1

Android v8.0.1 builds on the large v8.0.0 redesign and focuses on polishing reported issues across Android phones, tablets, foldables and Android TV.

What’s Fixed and Improved

Android TV Input and Dialog Improvements

  • Fixed manual IP entry on Android TV where the on-screen keyboard could open automatically and block D-pad navigation.
  • Fixed Android TV manual IP handling in the port forwarding screen as well.
  • Improved keyboard dismissal behavior on TV: pressing Back now closes the keyboard first instead of immediately closing the dialog.
  • Improved focus restoration after closing the on-screen keyboard.
  • Improved D-pad navigation in TV dialogs and text fields.
  • Adjusted TV text field focus visuals so they better match the rest of the Android TV UI.

Remote Play and Registration Reliability

  • Improved remote console registration recovery when the app is recreated after PSN login.
  • Improved persistence of pending registration and streaming launch state across activity recreation.
  • Improved handling of Local Play and Remote Play flows after Android destroys and recreates the main activity.
  • Added stronger protection so the main activity does not interfere with an active Remote Play stream when it is destroyed in the background.

Streaming Stability

  • Fixed display cutout handling for the stream view in landscape mode when “ignore display notch” is disabled.
  • Improved cutout handling on foldable devices where landscape camera cutouts can still report top insets.
  • Improved gamepad sensor registration handling to avoid possible Android system deadlocks.
  • Improved decoder shutdown behavior to avoid rare ANRs on some Android TV devices.
  • Improved EGL surface teardown behavior to reduce the chance of vendor graphics driver ANRs during activity stop.

HDR and Rendering

  • Fixed HDR tone mapping on SDR displays where colors could appear too reddish or pink.
  • Improved BT.2020 to BT.709 conversion in the HDR fallback tone mapping path.
  • Real HDR output on HDR-capable devices is unchanged.
  • SDR fallback tone mapping now produces more neutral colors when real HDR output is not available.

UI and Quality of Life

  • Added a “Check for Updates” action in the Info section.
  • Fixed some corrupted localized license strings in APK builds.
  • Improved license activation state handling across configuration changes.
  • Improved Android TV focus behavior in several forms.
  • Minor layout and visual refinements.
