Library health, Plex 1.43.5 support and chapter fixes

5.1.0 adds a Library health page that shows what's done and what's left in each library. It also supports Plex 1.43.5 for loudness and chapter thumbnails, and fixes a batch of problems found in real job logs.

Before you upgrade

  • Plex marker helper users: update the helper to 1.1.2 together with the app. An older helper turns skipped chapters back into failures, and it refuses Plex 1.43.5.
  • Nothing else changes in your settings.

New

Library health (Tools → Library health)

  • Shows, per server and library, how many files still need previews, loudness, intros and credits. Works for Plex, Emby and Jellyfin.
  • Click a number to see the files and start a job for just those.
  • Checking only reads. It never changes your servers or files. It runs on demand, nightly at 03:00, and takes about 30 seconds for a 130,000-file Plex library.
  • Previews Plex isn't showing: finds previews that exist on disk but that Plex never picked up. Review & fix asks Plex to re-read those items in the background. Plex takes a few seconds per item, so thousands take hours, and you can cancel any time. A re-read clears Plex's chapter thumbnails, so if those are on, the app adds them back every 200 items while it runs, including on each episode of a file that holds several. Cancelling is instant.
  • When previews aren't showing, or a check fails, the bell tells you, with a button that goes straight to the fix. You can dismiss it.

Plex 1.43.5

  • Loudness and chapter thumbnails now work on Plex 1.43.5 as well as 1.43.4.

Fixes

Previews in Plex

  • New previews show up more reliably. The app now checks that Plex really picked a preview up, and asks again if Plex skipped the request.
  • A file holding several episodes now shows its previews on every one of those episodes, not just the first.

Chapter thumbnails

  • Titles with several versions work like they do in Plex. The version whose chapters match Plex's list gets the thumbnails, and the others are skipped, not failed.
  • Sources that can't have chapter thumbnails are "skipped", not failed: a version split into several files, Dolby Vision without an HDR base layer, or no video stream.
  • Chapters that start after the last video frame get no thumbnail, and the rest are still added. Before, the whole file failed with "FFmpeg exit 234" and retried every scan.
  • A file whose chapters fail the same way every time, such as a damaged source, is skipped until it changes or you regenerate it.
  • The Files panel can filter chapters failed, waiting and skipped, and the chapter-issues banner can be dismissed.

Jobs and loudness

  • Replaced daily shows, such as a Sonarr swap of a date-named episode, are recognised. They no longer retry for three hours and end with "check path mapping".
  • Loudness skips files that a newer file replaced, asks Plex to scan a new file's folder once instead of waiting up to three hours, and a retry whose files are only waiting finishes with a warning instead of failing.
  • A scheduled scan is skipped when another whole-library scan of the same kind already covers it.
  • Retry chains show "Running retry N of M" instead of 100%.
  • Priority changes, pause and resume are logged. Per-file lines stay in the job log and no longer fill app.log.
