What's Changed - Full Text Search Indexing, Perfect Snippets, Link Healing

This is a major update that changes how OneMore searches your notebooks and keeps track of hashtags, favorites, window layouts, and My Reading List pages. It makes these features more reliable, but it also changes your OneMore.db data. And it vastly improves how it saves and restores custom My Snippets, providing fidelity with original content and includes new macro expansions.

Thank you to all the courageous beta testers - over 60 people downloaded the betas! Your thoughtful feedback always helps improve quality and easy of use.

What’s new

  • Smarter snippets. Pixel-perfect duplication of content including headings and table styles, plus over a dozen new macros like COUNTER, PROMPT and QUARTER. And, drum roll please… You can now edit snippets!
  • Instant search (optional). Turn on the full-text index in the installer or in Settings > Search Index. Hint: bind it to Ctrl+E to replace OneNote’s built-in search.
  • Rock-solid links. Favorites, layouts, and hashtag searches keep working after restarts and after pages are moved, renamed, or re-dated. Incrementally loading notebooks are handled gracefully and window layout that can't be restored are given clearer explanations.
  • Auto-scroll notebooks. Scrolls the Notebooks pane to the notebook or section containing the current page. This is part of the Navigator service and can be enabled from Settings.

Good to know

  • If you chose not to enable full text search in the installer, you can enable it later in Settings, where you can also choose to build the index now (minutes) rather than waiting for it to complete incrementally in the background (hours).
  • Hashtags may take a while to appear in search on large collections while they rebuild after install.
  • Pages in locked sections are skipped and identical copies of a page in the same section can’t always be told apart.
  • Rolling back to 7.5.0? First, restore the OneMore.db database from the backup created by the installer; otherwise hashtags and saves may break.

Which Installer?

The architecture of the installer (x86, x64, arm64) must match the architecture of your installed copy of OneNote. This is unrelated to your installed copy of Windows. If you do not know your OneNote architecture, refer to Which Version of Office Do I Have? on the How to Install OneNote page.

  • If you have 64-bit OneNote installed, download the x64 msi
  • If you have 32-bit OneNote installed, download the x86 msi
  • If you have ARM64 OneNote installed, download either the x64 msi or the ARM64 exe bundle installer

Checksums

  • x64 = ffdb022af5078e17ad81db20fee8435c66cbde64ff8f8dbb20d639133fad22ab
