Important
macOS first launch (no code signing yet). After dragging StemDeck to Applications, clear the Gatekeeper quarantine flag or macOS will say the app is damaged:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/StemDeck.app

Pick one. Each Windows and Linux download is complete on its own: unzip and run, no installer, no toolchain. Everything else in the asset list is used by StemDeck itself - in particular the small -app files are the updater's payload and will not run on their own.
Installing a new version no longer resets your settings
If you had moved your stems folder somewhere else, installing a newer StemDeck by extracting it to a fresh folder sent it straight back to the default. Your library looked empty, and the port, compute device, separation quality and language went back to defaults with it. Nothing was deleted, but there was no sign of where anything had gone.
The cause: since 0.13, a portable install keeps everything it owns inside its own folder, settings.json included. A new folder therefore started with no settings at all. StemDeck already knew how to restore them on first launch, but nothing had been writing the copy it was looking for.
It does now. StemDeck keeps a small copy of your settings outside the install folder, seeds it from what you already have the first time this release runs, and keeps it in step with every change afterwards. A new install picks your choices back up before it starts.
If you are on 0.14.0, update in place and nothing is lost either way: use the Update now button, or extract over your existing folder. From this release onward, even a fresh extract to a brand new folder keeps your settings.
One click, for real this time
0.14.0 shipped the in-app updater but nothing newer for it to find. This is the first release the Update now button can actually fetch, on Windows and Linux.
Verified
Reproduced against the published 0.14.0 packages before the fix, then driven end to end afterwards: settings written by an older release, carried through a new install that had never seen them, on a real backend rather than a test double.
