Important

macOS first launch (no code signing yet). After dragging StemDeck to Applications, clear the Gatekeeper quarantine flag or macOS will say the app is damaged:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/StemDeck.app

Which file do I download?

Your setup Download
Windows, NVIDIA GPU StemDeck-Windows-x64.NVIDIA.zip
Windows, no NVIDIA GPU StemDeck-Windows-x64.zip
Linux, NVIDIA GPU StemDeck-Linux-x64.NVIDIA.tar.gz
Linux, no NVIDIA GPU StemDeck-Linux-x64.tar.gz
macOS, Apple Silicon (M1-M4) StemDeck-macOS-arm64.dmg
macOS, Intel StemDeck-macOS-x64.dmg
Docker / Unraid Nothing here - pull ghcr.io/stemdeckapp/stemdeck:0.14.0

Pick one. Each Windows and Linux download is complete on its own: unzip and run, no installer, no toolchain. Everything else in the asset list is used by StemDeck itself - in particular the small -app files are the updater's payload and will not run on their own.

On the GPU variants: both ship the same small package. The NVIDIA build downloads the CUDA components matching your card on first launch, so it needs a working NVIDIA driver. If you are unsure, take the non-NVIDIA one - it works everywhere and you can switch later.

Click to update, on Windows and Linux

StemDeck can now update itself. When a new release lands you get an Update now button next to Download, and it fetches only the app layer: 5 MB and 123 files, instead of 284 MB and 16,056. It swaps the app and restarts.

Your data/ folder, settings, jobs and stems are untouched, and the Python runtime is never replaced — that is what keeps the download small.

Updating to this release is still a manual download. Your current build has no updater in it. From the next release onward it is one click.

When a release genuinely changes StemDeck's Python dependencies, the updater deliberately steps aside and sends you to the full download, because swapping the app without the matching runtime would break the install. On this project's history that is roughly one release in ten.

macOS keeps the existing manual download for now.

Leaner packages

Measured against the published 0.13.0 Windows package:

0.13.0 0.14.0
files 18,143 16,056
unpacked 883 MB 850 MB

Mostly the Python standard library's own test suite and per-package test folders, none of which are ever imported at runtime.

Français

French joins English, Polish, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, German, Portuguese and Indonesian — a complete translation, not a partial one.

Fixes

  • The update check now sees pre-releases. It previously polled an endpoint that excludes them, so a release published this way would have been invisible.
  • The version reported after a self-update is now correct.
  • Windows and Linux packages agree on their runtime compatibility id regardless of checkout line endings.
  • Leftover files from an applied update are cleaned up on the next launch.

Verified

A real 6-stem separation was run through the packaged, stripped runtime on both Windows and Linux, and the full notify → download → restart → relaunch cycle was driven end to end on Windows, confirming user data, portable markers and the Python runtime all survive.
