Orca Server 2.0 is coming soon, with improvements to make remote work more reliable. The current Remote Server remains experimental and may have bugs.

The short version

Native chat (experimental): With "Use updated structured native chat" turned on (Settings → Chat UI), Grok now opens as a structured chat on this computer and on paired Orca servers; SSH and WSL keep the terminal chat. You can rewind a conversation to an earlier message, search the model list, pick workspace files by typing @, and set text size, code size, width and contrast, or match your terminal, on a new Settings → Chat page. Chats are named after their first message, alert you when they stop to ask for approval, keep an unsent draft through a reload or quit, and use the Command and Arguments saved in Settings → Agents. Claude chats now open for API-key users, and Windows chats no longer refuse to start.
SSH workspaces: Open files, live agent tabs and paused Claude or Codex resume offers survive an SSH reconnect and a restart, and tabs you closed long ago no longer come back as empty shells. Clicking an SSH worktree whose last tab you closed opens a terminal again.
Remote servers and the phone: A paired terminal accepts typing again after its host app relaunches, remote browser tabs come back after a network drop, and the phone keeps every terminal after orca serve restarts. Starting an agent from the phone shows its tab right away and no longer moves your desktop window; creating a workspace on a remote host no longer pulls other connected desktops to it.
Agents and terminals: Long or multi-line agent launch commands on macOS and Linux reach the agent whole instead of being cut off or run line by line, and startup commands now use a real Enter. A pane you close just before quitting no longer comes back, and a pane dragged into its own tab no longer appears in two tabs. Claude's spinner clears when you cancel with Escape, and Codex keeps its working status when Escape only closes search. Orca no longer rewrites your ~/.codex hooks on every Codex launch, and helper processes it starts for Claude, Codex and OpenCode stop when Orca quits or crashes.
Accounts and agents: Switching Claude accounts keeps your MCP server sign-ins. Pi and OMP show their background helpers as rows, Rovo Dev is detected through acli, and Grok 4.7 is in the model list.
Sidebar and workspaces: Orca remembers whether the left sidebar was open. The agent activity view gets filters, a right-click menu and multi-select. A workspace that contains nested worktrees can be deleted together with them, in the background. Revealing a remote workspace no longer expands your local sections, and the Dock badge clears when you visit the workspace.
Files and search: Audio and video files play in Orca. Quarto and R Markdown files are highlighted. You can reveal a changed file in Source Control, or a file path in a terminal, in Finder or File Explorer. Quick Open matches multi-part queries and opens files at the requested location, and abandoned searches stop.
Tasks and review: GitHub Projects Board views show as a kanban you can drag cards across, private Linear images in task descriptions load, and GitLab merge request and issue actions in SSH workspaces reach the right server.
Also: A completion sound now plays for an agent that finishes right after another, and screenshot markup has an eraser.

Known issues

Native chats from v1.4.217 or older (release manager: drop this item if it does not apply): If you used native chat (experimental) on v1.4.217 or older and update straight to v1.4.223, your earlier native chats won't appear. Their files stay on disk (#26038).

Terminals after updating: This version starts a new terminal background service for new terminals. Terminals that were already open keep running on the previous one, so changes such as whole long launch commands apply only to terminals opened after the update. This also means the OpenCode, Pi and Qoder detection improvements from v1.4.222 now work in new terminals without restarting anything.

Relaunching from shell history: When an agent's launch command is long or spans several lines, the shell history holds a short one-time line instead, so pressing up-arrow and Enter does not start the agent again (#23962).

Workspaces created from the phone: Creating a workspace from an issue, pull request or Linear item with an agent on the phone still moves the desktop to that workspace (#26025).

Downgrading: Orca now refuses to install versions older than v1.4.214 from its version picker. To go back to one of those, run orca profile state rollback --latest-json with Orca closed, then install the old version by hand (#23262).

Windows on ARM: The ARM64 package ships an x64 orca.exe command-line tool. Windows 11 on ARM runs it under emulation. Windows 10 on ARM can't run it, so the orca command does not work there (#24094).

OpenCode 2: If you update from v1.4.219 or earlier, OpenCode 2 panes that were already running may show no status until you restart OpenCode in them. If you downgrade Orca after updating, duplicate OpenCode status plugins are left behind. After opencode run exits, its pane can keep showing "Done"; a fix is pending in #24472.

Claude folder trust: Folder pre-trust is on by default (Settings → Agents → "Trust the folder when Orca starts an agent"). On Alpine WSL, Orca can't copy the file permissions it needs, so Claude shows its own trust prompt instead (#23744).
