Recommendations work again on Music Assistant 2.10 and newer

On Music Assistant 2.10 and newer this provider added no rows to the home and Discover pages, and opening Browse > YouTube Music (Free) > recommendations failed with error 999 (NotImplementedError). Music Assistant 2.10 changed how a provider hands over its recommendations, and earlier releases only answered the old call. Both are now supported, so MA 2.9 keeps working as before.

The rows themselves are fuller on every server version. Playlists, mixes, albums and podcasts from your YouTube Music home feed used to be dropped silently, so usually only "Quick picks" came through. They now appear, with their artwork. The feed is cached for an hour and the cache survives restarts.

AI filter: in the recommendation rows the filter now also removes albums by a blocked artist, that artist's own card, and playlists made by a blocked artist. YouTube's own editorial playlists and your personal mixes are always kept. Radio, mixes and similar tracks filter exactly as before, and search, your library and artist pages are still never filtered.

Recommendations still need cookie authentication.

Updating: run the installer script again or let the watcher add-on pick it up, then restart Music Assistant. Docker users pull ghcr.io/sproft/ytmusic-free-provider:1.2.2 or :latest.
