Superseded by v3.0.0-beta.19, which includes downloads for all platforms. Beta.18 has Linux and macOS downloads only.
Linux users can now install Spotify from its official packages with spicetify spotify install and update it explicitly with spicetify spotify update. Manager 1.4.0 also offers package checks and updates inside Spotify for these managed installations.
Managed updates verify downloads, prepare and patch the new client before switching, update the desktop and terminal launchers together, and roll back if the new client fails to start. The daemon preserves progress across renderer restarts and prevents competing update jobs.
Other changes since beta.17:
- Repair Windows update admission and restart, daemon service persistence, and console flashes.
- Preserve macOS launchd ownership and restore app handoff.
- Restore GraphQL definitions and add
apply --no-cachefor a fresh compatibility check. - Keep pending repairs through package operations and client relaunches.
- Tighten package path validation while accepting non-redirecting Windows reparse points.
Linux package updates are controlled by Spicetify. The UI reports native updater protection as unknown when Spotify's binary does not expose a recognized update endpoint.
Upgrade an existing v3 installation with spicetify self-update, then run spicetify apply to refresh the client and system modules.
