Known Issue(s)
-Due to Z64 / N64 big endian / little checking, try to retain the original filename of the ROM.
So for USA, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (USA).z64 next to the game EXE etc.
-When passing the Intro cutscene when starting a new game, leaving Goemon's house into level select will cause a 'audio hum'. Simply tab out of the game, reload the game, and select from the newly created file and start from there. This is caused by a audio injection bug which will be resolved in the future.
What's Done
- Main Game Systems / Subsystems are complete, platforming, controls etc.
- 50% of game levels / maps that you can try out. Not all maps are finished and don't have all enemies / objects where they need to be yet.
- Audio Subsystem / Sound Test
- Major Cutscenes
- Menus / Inventory / Map / Character Swap
What's Not
-Main Gameplay Loop Start > Finish. After the intro, you will be stuck inside Goemons house. Go to the menu, exit, to select a 'JAPAN' level to test. This debug menu won't be in the final game, it's there so you can try out levels in any order.
-Connecting Doors and Regions, progression, enemies, items, bosses etc. Basically anything that makes the game flow as it does in the original. Since the levels are only 50% done, it doesn't make sense to implement the core gameplay loop at this point till they are done.
Estimated Completion
6 Months - 12 Months
6 Months from now, all main level designs and implementation will be done.
6 Months from that point on, main gameplay loop and final subsystems, cutscenes.
3 Months from then, Polished Gameplay, or 1.1 Release / Community Mods.
You WILL need the ROM in order for the game to boot. Simply drop the N64 ROM (PAL) or Z64 ROM (USA) into the same folder as the main EXE. Don't upset the Guru, he will kick up a fuss if the ROM isn't there.
