Field Guide. Squachy has been keeping notes. Turns out a Sasquatch who has spent months in your pocket cataloguing every camera, tracker and gunshot microphone that walked past has opinions about all of them, and he has been waiting for somebody to ask. This release gives him a binder.
The SQUACHY-DEX. SETTINGS > SQUACHY-DEX, right under BINGO. Seventeen numbered tiles, one for every kind of thing this board can catch, wearing the same icons the alert screen does. Caught one? It lights up in its colour with rarity stars. Haven't? It sits there as a silhouette marked ??? like a Pokémon you have only heard rumours about. Tap a tile and you get its card: what the thing actually is, where it lurks, which radio gives it away, and a line from Squachy, who has met every one of them and forgiven none. "It photographs cars. I am not a car. Checkmate, Flock."
Your record, on every card. How many you have caught, when you caught the first one, when you last saw one, the closest one ever came, and how many turned up between eleven at night and five in the morning, which is its own kind of statistic. The counts you already have carry over, so tiles you earned last month are lit from the first boot. The dates and distances start counting now, because nobody was writing them down before. RESET STATS wipes the record with everything else, if you ever want to start the hunt over.
BINGO is a card you fill in a week. The DEX never finishes. Uncaught cards show you the shape of the lore with the words blanked out, and a hint about where to look. Squachy on the Raven, which he has never met: "Never seen one. Never heard one. That is kind of its whole deal." No outfits to unlock this time; the card and the lore are the prize, and the RARE ones are rare on purpose.
The LOG shows each device once. Yesterday's grey rows were piling up under today's live ones, so a doorbell you walk past every morning had a row for every morning, and one more in colour when it was actually there. Squachy called it "the same doorbell, in a trench coat, several times." Now each device appears once, at its newest sighting: live if it's here, grey if it's only in the history. Seen again while you're looking? It moves up to the live rows and its grey copy goes. A deauth flood from the same source updates its row too, instead of stacking up a new one per burst.
A slow thumb is not a tap. A few of you were opening rows you were only scrolling past. It happens when a finger lands on the list, thinks about it, and lifts before it has moved far enough to count as a scroll. So on every list, a tap now has to be quick: under half a second. Rest on a row and lift, and nothing happens. Long presses that mean something, like WATCH and HUNT on a LOG row, keep their own timer and work exactly as before. We tried a no-tap scroll rail down the side first. It was bad. It is gone.
The actually-useful part
Added
- SQUACHY-DEX: a card per detection type with lore, habitat, radio, rarity and your record (caught, first, last, closest, at night), under SETTINGS.
- The DEX keeps first/last/closest/night per type in a small NVS record; RESET STATS clears it.
- The emulator renders the DEX (
dex --pose N) and aniconssheet of every type icon.
Changed
- The LOG shows each device (address plus type) once: its live row, or its newest kept sighting. The title's count is the de-duplicated one.
- A tap on SETTINGS, its pages, the LOG's buttons, the type filter, POWER SAVER, SECURITY and STATUS LIGHT must be under half a second; a longer touch that never moved is ignored.
- A repeat deauth burst from the same source updates its existing row.
Fixed
- A device seen yesterday and again today showing twice in the LOG, and once per visit for a device that comes and goes.
