WWE All Stars Recomp 1.4.0
You need your own copy of the game: a disc image of WWE All Stars (Xbox 360,
USA/Europe) and its Title Update 2, both dumped from your own console. This download
contains no game files, no update and no DLC.
What's new
Mod support (experimental)
The launcher has a new MODS page. This is a first step, mainly for modders and
developers who want to work out how to make mods for this game. There are no
ready-made mods to download yet. If you make one, or work out how something in the
game's files fits together, please share it.
- Install: drop a
.zip,.raror.7z(or a folder) on the MODS page, or use
Add mod…. A new mod starts off: turn it on, then choose Play. The page lists your
mods in load order, shows conflicts and problems, and Remove moves a mod to the
Recycle Bin. - What a mod can do today:
- Change config values, such as gameplay tuning, AI values or menu text, with
small ini edits. Several mods combine. - Add new wrestlers to the game's free roster slots, built on an existing
wrestler's model and moves, with their own name. They appear in the DLC list on the
select screen, next to Pack 1's wrestlers if you have it. - Replace game packages, such as attires and arenas, but only with a package built
under the name it replaces. Renaming a package doesn't work, and the launcher refuses
it. There is no public tool yet that writes this game's packages, so new attires and
textures are still an open problem.
- Change config values, such as gameplay tuning, AI values or menu text, with
- Online play: only mods marked cosmetic load in online play. Gameplay mods and new
wrestlers are left out automatically, so they can't break a match. - The game files stay untouched. Mods load through the game's own update and DLC
paths. Turn every mod off and the game is exactly as before. Your DLC folder is never
changed. - For modders: the modding guide
explains the mod format, and there is a commented
example mod
to copy: it adds a new wrestler and removes a startup movie. The research notes behind
it, including how the game loads its files and its DLC, are in
docs/research/modding.md.
Update
Extract the zip over your existing folder, or let the launcher's update check take you
to this page. Your settings, saves and game files stay where they are. Mods go in the new
mods folder.
Known limits
- Mods are experimental. The format may still change, and there are no ready-made mods
yet. - Online play pairs only players on the same release: update together with your
friends. - Ranked Match doesn't work yet; Player Match does.
- The in-game store button does nothing; add DLC from the launcher.
- A crash that Windows stops at once (a "fast fail") still ends without a crash report;
then attach the session log from Open logs. - Tested on Windows 11 with an RX 7900 XT, and on a Steam Deck (SteamOS through Proton).
Intel GPUs fail on Native for some players; Emulated is the way to play there for now.
A bug report with the crash report helps.
