Session
Session uses the Session encryption protocol and the Oxen blockchain’s decentralised Service Node network to provide anonymous, end-to-end encrypted messaging without relying on central servers.
Release overview
This update includes a major overhaul to group chats, making them more reliable and setting the stage for new features in the future. Group admins will need to recreate their group chats once the new Groups v2 architecture is enabled on 19th March at 22:00 UTC, and old groups will become read-only on 2nd April at 22:00 UTC. Groups v2 includes:
- More reliable messaging – Enjoy a smoother and more consistent group chat experience.
- Improved syncing – Group-wide settings, like disappearing messages, now sync more reliably across all members' devices.
- Easier group management – Resend group invitations and manage members with greater ease.
- Simpler group creation – Creating a new group is now more seamless, reducing issues like duplicate groups.

Supported Platforms
Session requires Windows 10 or later, macOS Ventura (13) or later, or a Linux distribution with glibc 2.35 or later like Debian 12 or Ubuntu 22.04.
