This release should be v1.31.3 but anyway, it's an urgent fix to the code which updates yt-dlp which is currently broken.
Bug fixes
- Updating yt-dlp is broken in v1.31.2 and earlier. Version 1.32 hopefully fixes updating yt-dlp for both stable and nightly releases.
Note: Switching between stable and nightly releases can be slow particularly on old versions of macOS. I haven’t had time to fix that. For some reason getting the version of the installed yt-dlp using AppleScript is much slower than in the Terminal app. For the time being, the only option for users is to wait. - Choosing “Best” format for audio only downloads in some cases could cause a yt-dlp error. That is because yt-dlp is case sensitive. Version 1.32 sends “best” to yt-dlp instead of “Best”.
- The MacYTDL Service used to crash if the user’s downloads folder was mounted after the Service was started. That is fixed in v1.32.
Improvements
- ABC iView Australia have changed the underlying html code used to serve their TV shows. This broke code in MacYTDL used to show a list of episodes for downloading. Version 1.32 has been updated to restore the iView “Chooser”. Note that the simpler dialog is used for automatic downloads when the MacYTDL Service is invoked.
- That change to ABC iView Australia html code also breaks yt-dlp recognition of iView playlists. The issue has been reported. For MacYTDL, the error has been suppressed and processing continues to the “Chooser”. Downloading has not been affected.
- User virtuecho has supplied simplified and traditional Chinese translations for MacYTDL which have been implemented in v1.32. That was a lot of work which I do appreciate. Many thanks.
