AdventureLog v0.13.1 "Cadillac"

Hi everyone!

I'm excited to announce AdventureLog v0.13.1 "Cadillac", a follow-up to Acadia focused on logging places cleanly, managing your account with confidence, and keeping data consistent. This update adds duplicate-place detection, a preferred date format, faster visit logging, richer collection ZIP transfers, and a frontend refresh on Svelte 5, DaisyUI 5, and Tailwind CSS 4.

Warning

Upgrading to v0.13.1 is strongly recommended. This release includes security updates for the backend, frontend, and container images. See Security and Dependency Updates below.

πŸ“ Smarter Location Logging

  • Duplicate detection while adding a place, matched by similar name, address, and nearby coordinates, a warning asks "Did you mean …?" and offers "Open existing", with the distance shown in your measurement system
  • Add Today records a visit for the current day in one click from the visits menu
  • Manage Visits from location cards and collection views, opening the editor on the visits step
  • Categories created during quick-add are saved with the new location
  • Fetch Description can pull a place summary from Google Maps when that integration is enabled, alongside Wikipedia
  • The Immich photo picker opens on the latest visit date when a place has visits

πŸ“… Date and Time Preferences

  • New preferred date format in Settings: browser default, MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, or YYYY-MM-DD
  • Clock times follow that choice: 12-hour for browser default and MM/DD/YYYY, 24-hour for DD/MM/YYYY and YYYY-MM-DD
  • Shared date and time picker across visits, lodging, transport, and other dated fields
  • Calendar and the rest of the app display dates with the same preference

πŸ“„ Collection Export and Import

  • Collection ZIP export includes trip start and end dates
  • Lodging export includes check-in, check-out, timezone, reservation number, price, and coordinates
  • Transportation export includes the end time and origin and destination coordinates
  • Notes and checklists round-trip with their dates and items
  • Older ZIP files that used previous field names still import
  • Collection PDF export splits long notes and descriptions across pages so large itineraries stay printable

πŸ‘€ Accounts, Security, and Settings

  • Settings is organized into Profile, Emails, Security, Integrations, Data & Storage, Danger Zone, About, and Administration for staff
  • Sign in with username or email
  • Password rules are shown on signup, password change, and reset
  • ACCOUNT_PASSWORD_MIN_LENGTH sets the minimum length (default 6)
  • AUTH_PASSWORD_VALIDATORS_ENABLED can also reject common, all-numeric, and profile-similar passwords
  • Active sessions: see where you are signed in and sign out other devices
  • Password confirmation before turning multi-factor authentication on or off
  • Delete account removes locations, collections, media, and integrations
  • Staff accounts stay in place until an administrator removes staff status
  • Invitation links open a dedicated signup flow for the invited email, with clear messages for expired, used, or invalid invites
  • Social sign-in failures land on a page that explains what happened
  • Media storage usage is shown in settings

πŸ—ΊοΈ Maps and World Data

  • Map drawing stays stable while the map is resized
  • Regions missing their own coordinates use the country centroid so they can still be placed
  • CARTO now requires a free API key for its raster basemaps. Set PUBLIC_CARTO_BASEMAP_API_KEY to enable Light, Dark, Positron, Positron + Labels, Voyager, and 3D Terrain. Without a key, those styles are hidden, and a previously saved choice falls back to the default instead of blank tiles
  • The default basemap follows the theme. Without a CARTO key, light mode uses OpenFreeMap Bright and dark mode uses OpenFreeMap Dark. With PUBLIC_CARTO_BASEMAP_API_KEY set, light mode uses CARTO Positron and dark mode uses CARTO Dark Matter. OpenFreeMap Liberty stays an optional style and does not change with the theme
  • Bundled country and region data updated to v3.2
  • Photo location pins stay on the map when an image or its coordinates are missing
  • Card menus flip to stay on screen, with clearer roles for assistive technology

🎨 Frontend Foundation

  • Frontend migrated to Svelte 5
  • UI kit updated to DaisyUI 5 and Tailwind CSS 4
  • Location editing avoids reactive update loops that could stall the editor
  • The timezone selector starts from the browser timezone

πŸ”’ Security and Dependency Updates

A broad dependency refresh resolves roughly 150 published security advisories across the project and clears the findings from container image scans.

  • Backend: Django updated to the latest 5.2 LTS release, along with Django REST Framework 3.18, Pillow 13, and other Python packages with security fixes
  • Frontend: upgraded to SvelteKit 3, Vite 8, and TypeScript 6, with updated map (MapLibre GL 6) and calendar (Event Calendar 5) libraries
  • Container images: runtime images rebuilt on current base images with updated build tooling
  • CI hardening: third-party GitHub Actions are pinned and Dependabot version updates are enabled
  • Map clustering density and calendar display were checked and kept consistent with earlier releases
  • Node.js 22.17 or newer is required for the frontend, and Node 26 is supported
  • No configuration changes are required.

πŸ› οΈ Operations and Community

  • Easypanel deployment guide for the one-click AdventureLog template
  • Startup checks require SITE_URL to begin with http:// or https://
  • Added a Code of Conduct and Security Policy, and refreshed contribution guidelines and issue templates

🌐 Languages

  • New Alemannic, Indonesian, and Luxembourgish locales
  • Weblate updates across Arabic, Catalan, Chinese (Simplified), Czech, Dutch, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian BokmΓ₯l, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazil), Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil, Turkish, and Ukrainian

✨ Miscellaneous

  • Itinerary items keep a stable content type so each day retains its locations, lodging, transport, notes, and checklists
  • Broader automated tests for auth, invites, sessions, collection ZIP transfer, duplicates, and billing webhooks
  • General UI polish and backend error-handling refinements
