What's new
- Android: Direct3D calls again on phones without Mali (issue #33). 0.3.10 made Graphics → Draw source → Automatic use console commands on every phone, after a Mali player reported fewer stutters with them (#27). Logs from a POCO F7 (Adreno 825, Turnip) showed the opposite there: about 60 fps with Direct3D calls in 0.3.8, and 23-30 fps with the GPU hanging (
VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST) with console commands. Automatic now picks Direct3D calls on Android unless the GPU is a Mali, which keeps console commands. PC does not change. If you set Draw source by hand, your choice stays.
Not tested yet
- The Android change above was built but not run on a phone. Adreno players: please tell us your frame rate and whether the game still closes, ideally with the
gow2.logof that run. - Frame counter (Display → Frame counter, new in 0.3.10), on PC and Android.
- Finger scrolling in Options on Android (0.3.10).
Known issues
- Smearing on some AMD cards (issue #26): on an RX 7900 XT and an RX 9070 XT the native renderer leaves smears and dark patches that follow the characters, with or without an upscaler. It does not happen on the RX 7800 XT we test on. Graphics → Renderer → Emulated (EDRAM) avoids it. A
gow2.logfrom a run where it happens helps a lot. - Vulkan on Radeon Vega (issue #34): after quitting to the main menu, the menu text can turn invisible. Not reproduced on an RX 7800 XT yet.
- SteamOS / Proton: one Direct3D 12 crash while firing was reported. If it happens to you, please attach
gow2.logandgow2_crash.logfrom the game folder to a new issue, and try Graphics → Graphics API → Vulkan meanwhile. - Every player in a System Link or co-op session should run the same release.
