Important Upgrade Notice
Scrappy v8.0.0 is a major release. You will need to perform a clean install of version 8.0.0 and remove version 7.x or below.

Before removing the old version you can optionally backup your cache:

  1. Open Scrappy.
  2. Go to Advanced Tools.
  3. Select Backup Cache to SD1/Archive or Backup Cache to SD2/Archive.
  4. Your cache will be saved as an archive in muOS Archive Manager.

Remove the old version:

  1. Navigate to the MUOS/application folder on your storage.
  2. Delete the Scrappy folder.

Install v8.0.0 and restore cache:

  1. Install Scrappy v8.0.0.
  2. Open muOS Archive Manager and restore your previously backed-up cache.

This prevents needing to re-download assets for your games during the fetching phase.

IGDB Scraper Support

  • IGDB Integration: Added support for Twitch's IGDB scraper module, with a built-in web server for easy API credential entry from your phone or PC.

Web Template Maker & Preview Customization

  • Template Maker: Built-in web editor to design, customize, and live-preview XML artwork templates with pixel-precision nudge controls, layout modes, and preset management.
  • Preview ROM Customization & Presets: Customize sample game previews with multiple built-in platform presets available by default to test templates against different game titles.
  • Inter & Web Fonts: Updated primary UI font to Inter for clean readability, along with Roboto and JetBrains Mono across web tools.

Grid Image Support

  • Grid Images For Supported Themes: Added full support for grid mode artwork rendering

Platform Mapping & Hardware Compatibility

  • Anbernic RG Vita Pro & High-Res Support: Added full support for the Anbernic RG Vita Pro (RK3576 GPU) and high-resolution UI scaling.
  • muOS Andromeda SVG Glyph Icon: Updated the application icon to SVG format for compatibility with upcoming muOS Andromeda. Legacy PNG glyph icons have been removed, so Scrappy's app icon will only display in muOS Andromeda and will not show an icon on earlier muOS versions on the default theme.
  • On-Device Platform Mapping Editor: Interactively map ROM directories to muOS core system IDs directly inside Advanced Tools.

Performance Optimizations

  • Low CPU Priority: Background scraping, generating, and backup tasks now run at lower process priority to keep the UI smooth.
  • Chunk-Based Parallel Generation: Optimized thread scheduling for batch artwork generation to prevent CPU core contention.

UI & Audio Animations

  • Animated Startup Splash Screen: Revamped application startup with animated splash screen effects.
  • Full UI Scene Transitions: Added cubic-out Zoom & Fade page transitions across all menus, smooth list navigation, and tactile button press animation timers.
  • UI Sound Effects: Added UI navigation sounds (from the OneTwo theme) with an option to toggle sound in Advanced Tools.

Backup & Engine Updates

  • Scraping Resume Loop Fix: Resolved an issue where scraping could get stuck in an infinite resume loop on completed platforms.
  • Scraper Config & API Backup: Added tool to back up all scraper settings and custom API credentials (ScreenScraper, TheGamesDB, IGDB) to SD1/ARCHIVE.
  • Terminal Backup Progress: Added a retro terminal-style progress bar during cache backups.
  • Skyscraper Core Update: Upgraded internal Skyscraper binary to v3.20.0 for improved stability and batch generation fixes.
  • Video Previews: Added an option in Advanced Tools to download video clips. Video previews in the muOS launcher will be supported starting with upcoming muOS Andromeda.
  • In-App FAQ: Added FAQ section inside the app.
