What's new
- Released on the ProsperoStore to increase visibility and bring this to the masses.
- This is now a native PS5 app instead of a browser app which was nice and decently fast, but couldn't touch the new UI. It runs on the same Vulkan homebrew UI as mihawk-99's apps, so it's fast and looks great. Note: You will see two icons for this release, one is the new, native app "RommPS" and a second one "Romm Sync" is the old browser-based UI. This will be removed shortly.
- A bunch of new information displayed for each game: Game details (year, genre, play time, How Long to Beat), etc.
- Built sync presets for all the latest emulators (SwanStationPS5, PSXS5, RetroArch, PS5N64, and more to come soon (some were broken and wouldn't work...)
- More than one emulator synced per game system. Pick a main one, and the others get the same games. Where the save format matches, they share one save. This will be especially useful with the huge and FAST influx of AI-coded homebrew.
- If setup doesn't recognize an emulator (or doesn't know a system), point it at the folders yourself through an easy to use UI, not just the JSON profile editor.
- Covers are cached and delta syncs are performed to significantly increase library load speed on larger game libraries.
- Download speeds per game and in total, and you can cancel downloads at any time.
- Games with more than one version in RomM now say what sets each one apart, like the region or the disc.
Fixed and changed
- Junk your RomM scan picked up, like a frontend's metadata.txt, no longer shows up as a game or downloads. Neither do manuals and soundtracks inside a game's folder.
- Downloads show the game's name right away instead of "Game #id".
- Pairing with a different RomM server no longer mixes up the old server's games and saves.
- The PS4 build is experimental. I've only tested it with RetroArch so far.
Which file do I need?
- PS5: install RommPS from ProsperoStore. Or unzip PPSA76677.zip and copy the PPSA76677 folder to /data/homebrew/. That's all you need.
- PS5 without the app: send romm-sync.elf to your HEN's payload loader (port 9021) and set it up from a browser at port 8780.
- PS4 (experimental): install romm-sync-ps4.pkg and open RomM Sync, then run romm-sync-ps4.elf from GoldHEN's payloader.
- The manifest files are for the in-app updater, and SHA256SUMS is for checking downloads. You don't need either.
Dev's Note
So...this a pretty massive update. After spending numerous hours building out the first UI in version 1.0.0-1.0.2, I realized that there were some excellent examples of a modern, native UI that was actually super-responsive. So....I no-life'd this version this entire week to bring you an immense number of changes. I even bought some pizza for some buddies and had them as my test guinea pigs (Yes, I worked them to the bone all for your benefit) to flesh out any bugs. Like any other release, things can break, so please report them right away.
Look for many more minor updates as I STRUGGLE to keep up with all the new emulators. My goal is to detect and preset as much as possible, but as always: you have manual control too.
