ESP32 firmware v0.8.16-esp32

pre-release2 hours ago

ESP32 firmware 0.8.16 is a prerelease. Select the bundle matching your board and flash size using the firmware guide.

Changes:

  • Prevent unrelated LD6002B/LD6004 frame types from establishing an MR60BHA2 identity (#2136, #2368).
  • Enforce LF on the container entrypoint so images built from Windows checkouts start correctly.
  • Update vulnerable Rust dependencies and apply checksum-verified ZIP/Wasmtime cache manifest patches for Zstandard compatibility, without relaxing the existing audit policy.

The startup-tolerance proposal in #2355 was withdrawn: the accepted ADR-355 zero-vitals startup requirement remains unchanged.

Source: 3686bc770f77eb6161d5379861dcd09d7d9a1e4b, integrated in PR #2369 with the original mmWave PR #2368 preserved.

Validation completed:

  • Final-candidate and main CI passed the Rust workspace, Python, UI, authentication, HomeKit pairing, patched archive/cache compatibility, security, firmware, and QEMU checks. The Rust audit passed under the unchanged existing policy; existing nonfatal warnings remain.
  • The release-tag firmware builds, version guard, and provisioning tests passed. All three public archives and their internal files were downloaded and verified by SHA-256; each application embeds version 0.8.16 and the expected ESP32-S3 or ESP32-C6 chip ID. Every packaged file also matches its exact tag-run CI artifact byte-for-byte.
  • The versioned image is published to Docker Hub and GHCR with both linux/amd64 and linux/arm64 manifests and the exact source revision. Independent runtime checks passed for amd64, and for arm64 under local emulation: unsafe default startup is refused, health and both UI pages return 200, missing/wrong bearer tokens return 401, and a valid token returns 200. These runtime checks use explicitly simulated input.

Container: ghcr.io/ruvnet/wifi-densepose:v0.8.16-esp32 (also docker.io/ruvnet/wifi-densepose:v0.8.16-esp32). Verified GHCR index digest: sha256:dec99839d191510dd55849059897970cc09878d4fae175c7730b7dc636d61aa5.

The release-tag firmware CI, QEMU suite, and container publication all completed successfully.

The attached Seeed MR60BHA2 kit was read successfully through its existing ESPHome firmware using the published RuView CLI. This checks live transport only; it does not qualify these new firmware images or establish sensing accuracy. The prerelease has no new physical-board qualification.

Each archive contains its own SHA256SUMS.txt and version.txt. Verify the downloaded archives against the top-level SHA256SUMS.txt before flashing. Bundles cover ESP32-S3 8 MB, ESP32-S3 4 MB, and ESP32-C6 4 MB.
