v0.0.19 — optional voice-panel markers and Assist receiver docs

  • Voice-panel control through [HW:...] markers, off by default (#63, proposed in #58). Pick one panel device and its HUD text, screen light and speaker volume entities on the new third options page. For requests from that device, Hermes can start its reply with markers such as [HW:/light:{"brightness_pct":40}]. Home Assistant removes every marker before speech, runs only well-formed ones on the entities you chose, clamps brightness and volume to your limits and dispatches without blocking the reply. Broken markers are removed but never run. Requests from other devices keep the previous payload, prompt and reply.
  • Assist round-trip docs corrected (#61, for #60 and #33). The README said the assist_query handlers still had to be built on the Hermes Agent side. The bundled voice_stack plugin has answered them since v0.0.11. The README now quotes the real timeout message, gives ordered troubleshooting checks including /health counters, and states that the bundled handler makes one LLM completion without tool calls.
  • Regression test for #43 (#62). The duplicate static-route guard from v0.0.14 is now tested against the error real aiohttp raises.
  • All five installation-surface versions, the lockfile and version assertions are aligned at 0.0.19 (#64).
  • Thanks to Joel Silva (@byjaps) for the panel-marker design and reference implementation.

Upgrade

Update the Home Assistant integration through HACS or manual copy. Reinstall the Hermes-side plugins:

python3 -m pip install --upgrade "hermes-voice-ha-integration @ git+https://github.com/rusty4444/hermes-voice-ha-integration.git@v0.0.19"
hermes-ha-install-plugins

Restart Home Assistant and the Hermes process owning the receiver port. That can be hermes dashboard rather than the gateway. Updating HACS alone does not replace the Hermes-side plugins, and panel markers need both sides from this release. The wheel is plugin-focused; the source distribution and tag include the HACS component and add-on scaffold.

Verification and limits

Local tests: 260 passed. Compilation, wheel/sdist build, release-integrity checks (including --tag v0.0.19 and artefact contents) and uv lock --check passed. Python 3.11 and 3.12 CI passed on every PR and on the release tag. The attached packages come from the tag's Python 3.12 release-dist artefact.

Mocked HA objects and loopback clients don't establish live Home Assistant, panel hardware or end-to-end voice compatibility. Panel markers haven't been tested on a real panel yet. Issues #33, #43, #58 and #60 stay open until their reporters confirm. The add-on remains an early scaffold. No deployment or PyPI/container publication is claimed. Release preparation used Hermes Agent assistance.
