skillshare v0.26.4 Release Notes
TL;DR
- Your edits to installed skills are protected.
checkflags a remote skill you changed since install, check <name> --diffshows the changes, andupdateskips it unless you add--force. - Descriptions and packages in the dashboard list. Each skill row shows its description, and skills nested in another skill's folder are listed under it.
- Import several installed plugins at once. The dashboard's Import installed dialog has checkboxes and an Import selected button.
- Dashboard fixes. Uninstalling a package says which nested skills go with it, tracked repos show Update only when they are behind, and the built-in skill version refreshes after a release.
New: protection for skills you edited
Editing a skill installed from a repository used to go unnoticed: check called it up to date, and update reinstalled over your changes.
Now skillshare compares the skill's files with the ones recorded at install time:
skillshare check # ! alpha local changes since install
skillshare check alpha --diff # added, modified and deleted files with their diffs
skillshare update alpha # skipped: local changes since install
skillshare update alpha --force # discard the edits and reinstallupdate <name>fails with a hint for a modified skill.--alland--groupcount it as skipped and list it under Modified locally, and--dry-runreports it as one it would skip.- A modified skill that was also deleted upstream is kept until you add
--force, even with--prune. - On the dashboard, the Updates tab marks the skill Modified locally with a View changes button, and Force overwrite local edits or Force Retry replaces it. Updating from the skill's own page shows the changes and asks first.
- Tracked repos and local-path installs are not checked.
Thanks to @chung1912 for reporting it (#621, #622, #623).
New: descriptions and packages in the dashboard list
The Skills page list view now uses the information each skill already has:
- Each row shows the
descriptionfrom the skill's frontmatter on one line, and in full while the row has keyboard focus. Group and sort → Show → Descriptions hides them. - A skill inside another skill's folder is listed under that skill. The count after the package's name opens its skills below it, and deeper packages are indented one more level.
- A search opens the packages that hold a match, shows counts such as
1 / 3, and marks the matched text. - Only a skill's name opens its detail page, so clicking elsewhere on the row no longer navigates away.
- A faint line with a rounded branch joins each nested skill to its package, and the tree view draws its folders the same way. Packages and folders grow open and shrink shut instead of jumping, unless your system asks for reduced motion.
Thanks to @trojanwk for both proposals (#624, #625, #627, #631, #635).
New: batch import of installed plugins
Importing a plugin that was already installed in an Agent took one click per plugin, and each import closed the dialog.
- Tick the plugins to import, or tick an Agent's header to select all of its plugins, then choose Import selected (N).
- The dialog stays open while the plugins are imported, and each imported row leaves the list.
- A blocked or failed plugin keeps its tick and shows the reason, so you can retry it.
- An installation with resource filters cannot be ticked. Import it with its own Import button, which shows the review first.
The CLI is unchanged:
skillshare plugin import review@team --from claude --no-tuiFixed: dashboard
- Uninstalling a package. Removing a skill moves the skills inside its folder to the trash too. The confirmation now counts them, and selecting a package together with its nested skills no longer ends in a partial failure (#636).
- Tracked repo Update. The Update button appears on a tracked repo only after a check finds it behind, instead of on every repo (#619).
- Built-in skill version. Right after a release,
status, doctorand the dashboard could report the old built-in skill as up to date. They now refresh it when a newer CLI release is known (#620). - Plugin update dialog. Single-line rows are vertically centered.
