skillshare v0.25.3 Release Notes
TL;DR
- Each target of a folder extra can choose which files it syncs, and the dashboard edits targets and extras in place.
- The dashboard installs what your config lists but the disk lacks, and prunes skills deleted upstream.
- New tracked repos are named
_<owner>-<repo>, so twoskillsrepos no longer collide. - An
includefilter that selects no skill is explained, with a link to fix it. extras --remove-target --prunekeeps a symlink target that does not link to the extra's source.
Choosing files per extras target
A folder extra used to send every file to every target, so a tool that only wanted a few docs got the whole folder. Each target can now set include and exclude patterns in .gitignore syntax, matched on the path inside the source.
skillshare extras init docs --target ~/.claude/docs --include index.md --include learning.md
skillshare extras docs --target ~/.cursor/docs --add-exclude "draft*"
skillshare sync extras- In
mergemode the next sync removes links to files that stop matching.copymode keeps files it copied before; remove them yourself. - Filters are refused for
symlinkmode, which links the whole folder, and for single-file extras. Switching a filtered target tosymlinkis refused too. syncwarns when anincludepattern matches no file. Filters written by hand in the config are validated first, so a malformed pattern stops the sync instead of pruning every link.- On an extra with more than one target, the filter flags need
--target, like--mode.
On the dashboard, Edit target changes a target's folder, file name, mode, flatten setting and filters with a live preview, and Edit extra renames an extra or points it at another source folder. A moved target or source drops the links left at the old place and syncs right away. Before, the only way to change a target was to delete and re-add it.
Installing and pruning from the dashboard
- Install all. When the config lists entries that are not installed, the Updates tab and the install dialog offer Install all, the same as
skillshare installwith no arguments. In project mode they install into the project's.skillshare/skills. - Prune. After a check, skills removed from their source repo are listed with Prune and Prune all, which move them to the trash for 7 days. Before, they showed as updates with nothing to update.
Tracked repo names
New tracked repos are named after their owner and repo, so alice/skills and bob/skills install as _alice-skills and _bob-skills.
skillshare install github.com/alice/skills --track # → _alice-skillsExisting installs keep their names. Repeating install --track for a repo cloned earlier under its old name reuses that checkout instead of cloning a second copy.
Include filters that select no skill
A target whose include filter matches no skill gets nothing, and the old message only named the config field. The CLI now says the filter adds nothing to that target:
include filter "*review*" matches no skill in the source, so it adds nothing to this target
The dashboard's Sync page, sync dialogs and Git Sync (after a pull) show one notice per project, or per global target, saying the target gets no skills, with Edit filter linking to where the filter is set. No notice is shown while a followed source link cannot be read, since the skill list is incomplete then.
Sync and Skills pages
- Sync. Targets that get the same changes share one card listing the skills by folder, and the summary and Sync button stay in view while the list scrolls. Discard all moves skills that no target has received yet to the trash, after a confirmation. A tracked repo is offered only when none of its skills has been synced.
- Skills. The toolbar and group headings stay in view while scrolling, New skill and Link folder are in the Install menu, filters are remembered in the browser, and Update repo is in the repo menu.
Fixes
extras --remove-target --pruneand symlink targets. The CLI removed asymlink-mode target wherever it pointed, so a link repointed at your own folder could be lost. Like the dashboard, it now removes only a link to the extra's source and warns about anything else. Windows junctions are recognized as such links, a real folder reached through a symlinked parent is kept, and a target that cannot be inspected stays in the config with the error reported.- A skill and an agent with the same name now show as two sync rows instead of one.
- Update check statuses are kept per folder, so
a/fooandb/foono longer share one. - Collapsed groups no longer use up places on the Skills list's 100-item page.
- Context submenus stay open when you move to another submenu and back quickly.
