skillshare v0.24.0 Release Notes
TL;DR
- A new
init. It asks first, shows a summary, and writes nothing until you confirm. On a second machine, "Connect my existing skillshare repo" sets everything up from your repo. - One look for the whole CLI. Every command reports results as aligned rows, and every full-screen TUI shares one frame and one set of keys. Small choices are asked inline.
push --pullsyncs both ways. Commit, merge the remote, push and sync targets in one command, or with Sync both ways in the dashboard.- Shared Markdown memory. Keep notes in
extras/memoryand connect the agents that should read them. - Pi extensions, one by one. Turn each extension of a Pi package on or off per target, and add npm packages from pi.dev.
- Breaking:
initwithout a terminal now applies the same defaults as pressing Enter, and output that is not a terminal has no colors. See Upgrading.
A new init
The old init asked nine questions in three styles and wrote files as it went, so cancelling halfway left a half-built setup. Now every answer goes into a plan:
skillshare initYou see a summary with Yes / Change settings / Cancel, and nothing is written until you confirm; Esc cancels cleanly. The built-in skill is installed by default, and the first sync runs at the end so your tools work right away.
On a second machine, choose Connect my existing skillshare repo. Init checks the repo before writing, detects its layout, prefers the repo's version of a skill with the same name, and keeps local-only skills for your next push.
One look for the whole CLI
sync, status, install, update, check, push, pull, doctor, audit, mcp, plugin, extras, target and the rest now report results as aligned rows and end with one closing line or the next step. skillshare help fits on one screen, and --help after a subcommand shows its help instead of running it.
The full-screen TUIs — list, trash, log, audit, analyze, diff, restore, search, target, extras and the MCP manager — share one title line, one key line and one lowercase letter per action; the rest is under ?. In list, tab switches between skills and agents.
Small choices no longer take over the screen. The install skill picker, a large repo's folder picker, the new wizard and others ask in place and leave a ✓ line in your scrollback. Long lists filter with /.
A file viewer opens a skill's files from list, extras, audit (at the finding), analyze and trash (before you restore).
Sync both ways
Editing skills on several machines meant remembering push on one and pull on the other. Now:
skillshare push --pullcommits your changes, merges the remote the same way pull does, pushes, and syncs the targets. A conflict stops before anything is pushed and keeps your local commit; it never rebases or force-pushes. The dashboard's Git Sync page has the same action as Sync both ways, and lists what it will do first.
Shared Markdown memory
Keep notes your agents share in extras/memory, globally or per project:
skillshare extras memory init
skillshare extras memory list --search deploy
skillshare extras memory instructions # guidance to add to your agent instructionsThe dashboard's Memory page browses, searches, moves and renames notes, keeps their history, and recovers them from backups. Connect the agents that should read the notes; each agent's own automatic memory stays separate.
Pi extensions
A Pi target's Extensions tab lists every package in Pi's settings, including ones installed with Pi itself, and switches each extension for the global, account or project target. Every change shows the exact edit to Pi's settings first and changes only that package's extension list. Turning a file back to what the package loads by default removes its rule instead of adding the opposite one. Editing needs Pi 0.99.2 or later.
Packages from pi.dev can now be added like any plugin. Pi installs them, and the preview says that Pi runs the package's install scripts:
skillshare plugin add npm:@scope/package --target pi -gUpgrading
init without a terminal. In CI, scripts and AI agents, init now enables git, installs the built-in skill and selects every detected tool, printing each decision with the flag that changes it. For the previous minimal setup:
skillshare init --no-git --no-skill --no-targets --no-copyPlain output. Piped or redirected output no longer contains colors, and the human-readable text changed throughout this release. Scripts should read --json where a command offers it.
Fixes
- Your
config.yamlstays yours. At the root git scope, a first pull is refused when the remote tracksconfig.yaml, a later pull keeps your local file, and a push is refused when unpushed commits would publish it. upgradechecks the download. The archive is verified against the release'schecksums.txtbefore the binary is replaced.checksees local sources change. Skills installed from a local path report an update when the files there change, and update from any directory.- Windows. No more flashing console windows when started without one, stopping skillshare stops its child processes, and
install file:///C:/...works. - Symlinked config folders. A linked
~/.pi,/varon macOS, or a config directory behind a link no longer fails with "refusing to modify symlinked native path". - Pull keeps file-only local commits in an agents or extras repo instead of resetting onto the remote.
- The pull conflict dialog highlights what differs and scrolls to it.
