TL;DR

1. Choose how each tool gets a shared AGENTS.md. import, symlink or copy, per tool, from the dashboard.
2. Put a shared AGENTS.md anywhere, under any name. Folders that are not targets, such as a notes folder, and file names such as instructions.md. In a project, shared files now live on the AGENTS.md tab.
3. Manage every backup in one place. Settings → Backup covers target folders, single files like CLAUDE.md, and MCP configs, with a diff before you restore.
4. AGENTS.md no longer shows up as a folder on Windows. Files are linked as files, or copied when Windows won't allow links.

Choose how each tool gets a shared AGENTS.md

A shared AGENTS.md reached every connected tool the same way. Now each tool on Extras → AGENTS.md has its own mode:

• import adds one @import line and leaves the rest of the tool's file to you.
• symlink makes the tool's file a link to the shared file.
• copy writes a copy. Saving the shared file in the dashboard updates the copies right away.

Switching a tool back to import brings back the content it had, including edits made while it was in import mode.

A tool whose file is a link to, or a copy of, one shared file can no longer be connected to a second one as well. Before, the second file's import line was written through the link into the first shared file, and every tool reading it picked it up.

Put a shared AGENTS.md anywhere

Under Other locations, Add location writes the shared file into any folder, even one that is not a target, under its own name or another one:

Each location has its own mode and status. Remove first shows what the file will hold afterwards. A location you edited by hand shows as modified, and you choose whether to keep your edit in the shared file or overwrite it.

In a project (skillshare ui -p), shared files used to sit in the Folders tab and looked like folder extras. They now have their own section on the AGENTS.md tab, with the same locations, relative to the project root, so they work in every clone.

Manage every backup in one place

skillshare already backed up a lot before writing: target folders before each sync, CLAUDE.md before adding @AGENTS.md, instruction files before converting or overwriting them, MCP configs before each change. Most of it could not be seen or restored. Settings → Backup now has three sections:

• Target folders: snapshots, filtered by target or agents only, and deleting one snapshot.
• Files: every AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md or shared-file location with saved versions, each with the reason it was taken, a diff against the current file, and restore. The current content is saved before a restore, and a linked file is only replaced after you confirm.
• MCP: backups of each agent's MCP config and which servers each one changed.

The tab now appears in project mode too, limited to that project. The same is available in the terminal:

backup files is now a subcommand. To back up a target that is actually named files, use skillshare backup -t files.

Restoring an agents snapshot from the dashboard also works now; it used to fail with "target not found".

Windows

Single files were linked with directory junctions, which tools read as a folder, so AGENTS.md could show up as a directory. Files are now linked as file symlinks. When Windows cannot create one (Developer Mode off and not an administrator), skillshare writes a copy and keeps it up to date, and the dashboard explains why symlink is unavailable.

Since Go 1.23, a junction is no longer reported as a symlink, so skills synced as junctions could be listed as local folders. They are recognized as links again.

See a restore before it happens, and keep your files

Turning a tool off, or Restore all, now shows the file the tool will have afterwards, with a diff against what it has now.

More of your own files are kept: an instruction file that links into your dotfiles stays as it was after restore, a missing end marker no longer duplicates the managed block, and the managed block follows the file's CRLF line endings. In project mode, the @import line in a committed CLAUDE.md is now relative, so it works for everyone.

Smaller changes

• Move a tool's instruction file: Change location on a target's AGENTS.md tab sets a custom path and file name for any tool.
• Preview everywhere: every AGENTS.md box has Preview and Source tabs; the target page saves with Cmd/Ctrl+S.
• Update progress: the Updates tab shows a progress bar and groups blocked or failed updates with a reason.
• Translated messages: warnings and errors about shared AGENTS.md files follow the dashboard language.
• NO_COLOR is honored by every command.
• sync extras --json exits with an error when a target fails.
