A Screensaver tab, with four screen savers to put in place of LG's.

Added

  • Choose the screen saver. The TV's own, or one of four written for it: a Clock, a Starfield flown into rather than across, Fireworks, and Panel vitals showing the set's panel hours and Pixel Refresher countdown. Each draws dim or bright, all of them move so nothing marks the panel, and the same panel starts or dismisses one. Deep link: /?tab=screensaver. (#85)

  • select.lg_tv_screensaver_mode carries the same choice into Home Assistant, taking the entity count to 69.

The screen saver is a QML app on the read-only overlay, so a replacement is bind-mounted over it the way the ad blocker holds its hosts file, and the boot hook reapplies it. Which one is running is read from the mount rather than from a stored preference, so the panel reports what is there. A firmware update restores LG's own, and the panel will say so.

Nothing of LG's is redistributed: the fireworks is written on QtQuick.Particles, which is part of Qt.

Fixed

  • Switching screen savers could leave the TV refusing to show any. tvpower hands a screen saver request to a client and waits to be answered; closing that client mid-handshake left the service refusing every later request as busy until the set was power cycled. A running screen saver is now dismissed the way the remote does it, with a key press, before anything is swapped. (#85)
