Choose the TV's home screen: LG Home, Glasshouse Home, the new Glasshouse Minimal, or a launcher of one's own. Also: animated backgrounds and saved web pages on Glasshouse Home, a settings backup that carries far more, and fixes for satellite channels, Internet TV and remote buttons on webOS 2.

Details

  • Choose your launcher: the Home tab picks LG Home, Glasshouse Home, Glasshouse Minimal or Custom. Glasshouse Minimal is a plain list of apps and inputs in the style of the TV app. Custom runs a launcher of one's own, uploaded as a web app or given by its web address; Writing a launcher covers how (#1258, #1261).
  • Glasshouse Home:
    • Animated backgrounds, such as light waves, aurora or an aquarium, with preset colours or one's own. Thanks to @haven80 (#1188).
    • Web pages saved to the Home screen now show on the Apps row. Thanks to @idkjustgoogleit for reporting it (#1268).
    • The Home button closes the More apps folder, the guide and the player (#1259).
    • The live preview stops while the screen saver is over Home. Thanks to @rabacen for the fix (#1272).
    • On TVs with satellite channels, the TV tile and the Channels row now appear. Thanks to @sti0 (#1255).
  • Internet TV:
    • Tiles show a channel's name where it has no logo, in place of initials, and logos are smaller (#1261).
    • A channel protected by DRM says so rather than showing "No picture" (#1250).
    • On TVs such as the CX, a download the TV stops as it starts is tried again. Thanks to @Nutcasey, and @DomiCreation for reporting it (#1251).
  • Settings backup: now also carries LG Logo Display, Quick Start+, Always-on and Always Ready, Wake on LAN, device detection and scans, ad blocking and its hosts list, Limit ad tracking, background services, saved web pages, remote keys, Quick Access and the screen saver. The Server tab's docs list what a backup leaves out, and why. Thanks to @3rd3 (#1269, #1271).
  • LG's device scans:
    • Network device scans now sits in Devices beside LG's Auto device detection, which says it doesn't stop the lookups on every TV.
    • Smart Home Device Polling is gone, and is switched back on where it was off. Thanks to @Mothamoz (#1263).
  • Remote buttons reach Home Assistant again on webOS 2 TVs. Thanks to @silvatyrant for finding the cause and the fix (#1273).
  • Installing from a Mac: the installer now connects on Macs that kept it off the home network. It also says when SSH needs a key. Thanks to @pdomagala (#1270).
  • Translations: the new Hungarian strings use the formal form. Thanks to @danzig666 (#1265).
  • Tested TVs: 55UF850T (#1273).
