Glasshouse Home comes to webOS 4 and opens sooner after the TV starts. It gains a live preview of inputs and channels, a TV tile and a setting to lessen or switch off the wallpaper's darkening. Also: a new dashboard header, the TV's name on the Server tab, Power off for remote keys and source links in the app catalog.
Details
- Glasshouse Home on webOS 4: offered from the Home tab on webOS 4 TVs, still experimental, with no config file edit needed. Home works straight after a boot, and search finds films and series. Opening a search result in a streaming app hasn't been tried on webOS 4 yet (#1160, #1164, #1166, #1170).
- Glasshouse Home opens sooner after a cold start: the rows show as soon as the server is up, about 15 s sooner on a B8 (#1171).
- Live preview: resting on an input or channel shows it live and silent beside the clock, with its signal and picture mode when Picture details is on. Nothing is sent over CEC, and a previewed channel doesn't become the last channel. Off by default. Thanks to @Nutcasey (#1104).
- TV tile, and two preview options: the Inputs row starts with a TV tile showing the last channel, which can be hidden like any input. Keep the preview on and Preview in the tile are under Live preview, both off by default, and not offered on webOS 4. Thanks to @haven80 (#1066).
- Darkening: how much Glasshouse Home darkens the wallpaper behind the clock and rows can now be set, from 100% (as before) down to Off. Thanks to @DamagedDingo and @thebrakshow for asking (#1102, #1106, #1120, #1180).
- Pure white: a newly switched-on Glasshouse Home starts in Pure white, which is now first in the colour list. Colours already chosen are kept (#1176, #1178).
- Home screen layout on webOS 10 (experimental): the banner's "Start a new experience" text can be hidden, and the banner can show plain black or a picture of your own. Thanks to @haxman for testing (#833, #1077).
- Dashboard header: the top of the web dashboard shows what the TV is doing and what's on screen, rather than its model. The model moves to the footer (#1161).
- TV name: the name under Glasshouse in the sidebar, also used in Home Assistant, is now set on the Server tab, not in the MQTT settings, and takes effect at once (#1175).
- Power off for remote keys: a remote button can be set to switch the TV off, useful with TVs side by side. Thanks to @morzhan (#1157).
- View source: apps in the Homebrew Channel and custom catalogs link to their source code before you install. Thanks to @guinnberg (#1089).
- Typing into apps: the dashboard's keyboard box can type into apps that draw their own keyboard, such as YouTube. Thanks to @Biditmangal (#1100).
- Ad blocker: the Everything tier also blocks Alexa's internet check (#1155).
- webOS 3: fixes a 0.136.0 regression where Glasshouse could stop reading and changing the TV's settings (#1153).
- Less memory on webOS 2 to 4: the server averages about 47 MB on a B8 instead of 75 MB (#1168).
