We are excited to announce the release of v1.5.2. Notable changes are discussed below.
Please check out this blog post for more details.
New Features
- Support for Everything as a file search engine. Settings -> Files and folders -> File search engine
- Preview Office documents. Requires Microsoft Office to be installed. Due to an SDK limitation, the preview is shown in a separate window for now. This will be fixed in the future
- Quick Search (Lightning button on the right of the search bar). This allows you to save frequent searches with a name and description
- Find duplicated files. This is implemented as a search filter (duplicate) and as a default Quick Search
- Read-only mode: Prevent accidental changes to files and tags. Settings -> Advanced -> Read-only mode
- Option to start Ritt in maximized, minimized or background mode on system startup. Settings -> Advanced -> Run at Windows startup
- Notes for tags. Right-click on a tag -> Notes
- Export Ritt tags in CSV format
- Context menu option for folder: Integrate into tag tree
- Warn the user about duplicated tags. This can be turned off in Settings
- Find and reveal tags in the Tag tree from the search bar
- Option to display the name of the current database file. Settings -> Database -> Show Ritt Database File name
- Display the total number of tags at the bottom of the Tag pane
Refinements
- When navigating from a child to a parent folder, the originating child folder is scrolled to and highlighted
- Clearer messaging about History changes and sync conflict warnings
- Changes to Settings are saved as they are made (instead of on app exit)
- File picker dialog for locating missing files is initialized to the containing directory
- Language selector for MSI and Portable versions
- Scrollbar width increased by about 50%
- Tag exclusion is more visually obvious
- Exits search mode when all search terms are cleared
- Shortcut key for Pin in the Details pane: N
- Video thumbnail is hidden when scrubbing on hover
Bug Fixes
- Ritt hangs when pressing backspace to delete a search token in the search bar
- More reliable tracking of file changes: automatically restart FileSystemWatcher on error
