Hello my wonderful Rinkhalsnauts!
This is a second test release ahead of the November stable release. It's everything from 20261022_01_test plus one fix, so if you're already on the first test build, this is a small update.
What's new since 20261022_01_test
- ACE prints from OrcaSlicer no longer fail at the start on the Kobra S1 (2.7.2.7). When nothing was loaded in the toolhead, Rinkhals fed filament from the ACE at the same moment the printer started leveling, and the printer aborted with 10539 "Extruder must heat up first" or a clog error (11518). Rinkhals no longer feeds when the file chooses its own tool, since the printer loads that filament itself, and a feed the printer rejects is no longer sent a second time. Tested on a Kobra S1 with an ACE. (#196)
- New option:
auto_feed: Falseunder[mmu_ace]turns Rinkhals' automatic filament feed at print start off completely, if you'd rather leave all loading to the printer.
Feedback from the first test build
- Prints started from the slicer or cloud that used to fail about 30 seconds in are confirmed fixed, with the
[!mmu_ace]workaround removed. (#128) - The BIQU Panda Breath works in Auto mode again with no changes needed. (#140)
A tip if you print to an ACE from OrcaSlicer or Mainsail
Put the printer in LAN mode. In cloud mode, Rinkhals can only start a print with a plain "print this file" command, which can't tell the printer which ACE slot to use. If the file doesn't choose a slot itself and nothing is loaded, the printer refuses with "The device cannot parse the file". In LAN mode the slot is sent along with the print, the same way the printer's own screen does it. The "not in LAN mode" warning in Mainsail is about exactly this. (#200)
Please help us test
- Kobra S1 Max owners: please run a bed mesh calibration from Mainsail (Heightmap, Calibrate) and tell us whether the nozzle stays parked on the pad while it cools. This was verified on an S1 but not an S1 Max.
- SimplyPrint users: please check that a finished print shows as completed, and that the touchscreen leaves the printing screen.
Thank you
Thanks to lewandowskit for the detailed report behind the ACE feed fix, to smeroni68 and Hello-dot-Jpg for confirming fixes on the first test build, and to everyone who installed it and reported back.
Known issues
These are open and not fixed in this release.
- #111 - a rare stall in GoKlipper's status query path can shut down the MCU mid-print on the Kobra 3 Max.
- #143 - after a reboot in LAN-only mode, the printer's clock isn't set, so services that need a secure connection, like OctoEverywhere, can't connect. We're looking into why.
- #134 - a report of an ACE tool change being silently dropped mid-print. We are waiting on a debug bundle.
Report findings to https://github.com/rinkhals-community/Rinkhals/issues with a debug bundle (Management page of the Rinkhals web portal, http://<printer-ip>:8090).
