✨ What's New
🚀 New
- Playable Read-Along Sample: The landing page now features a real, playable read-along sample. Press play to hear a short passage while each word lights up in sync with the audio, using the same highlighting as the reader. It runs from static files, so it costs nothing per visitor and works the same on self-hosted instances. (PR #168)
- Search & Social Sharing: Public pages now include page metadata, canonical URLs, structured data, a generated Open Graph preview image,
robots.txt, andsitemap.xml. Crawlers can fetch these without signing in. (PR #169)
⚡ Improved
- Redesigned Public Pages: The landing, web privacy, and iOS privacy pages have been rebuilt around your instance's theme colors. Feature sections now include scroll-driven illustrations, and the privacy pages add a reading-progress bar, an at-a-glance summary, and a section table of contents. Header animations are smoother, and every animation turns off when your system requests reduced motion. (PR #169)
- iOS Beta Strip in the Library: The iOS beta announcement is now a compact, animated strip above your library. It waits until your preferences load, so it no longer flashes for people who already dismissed it. The banner was redesigned, so it will appear once more for anyone who dismissed the old version.
🐛 Fixed
- Endings Cut Off: Fixed playback stopping before the end of a document when the voice spoke more slowly than estimated, for example with expressive or slow voices. Playback now runs to the true end of the last sentence and stops cleanly there. (PR #168)
- Missing Highlights at the End of a Passage: The last sentence of a passage sometimes got no word highlighting. Word timing now covers the full passage, and the final word no longer stays highlighted after the voice has stopped. (PR #168)
- Highlights Drifting After a Misheard Word: A single word the aligner misheard could shift every later highlight in a sentence. Highlights now stay locked to the correct words. Audio that is already cached keeps its old timings until it is regenerated. (PR #168)
- Replicate Gemini TTS Language Errors: Fixed Replicate models (such as Gemini TTS) rejecting the document language. OpenReader now reads their allowed language list correctly and maps a plain language to its regional code (for example
en→en-US). (PR #168)
