Tisty 1.6.1
A diagram drew itself tall and thin, and the reason was three words in a
stylesheet.
The rule was the usual courtesy: when the system asks for less motion, cut every
animation and transition down to almost nothing. Almost nothing, not nothing —
transition-duration: 0.01ms, a trick written for animations so their end events
still fire. Applied to every element with !important, it reached the diagrams too.
Mermaid places each node with a transform and measures where it landed in the
same breath. With a transition in force, however brief, that measurement comes
back from somewhere between the old position and the new one. The nodes kept
their size and drifted apart: a viewBox of 3329 by 8468 for a drawing that should
have measured 429 by 599.
That is why it came and went with nobody touching the code. The rule only applies
when the system asks for less motion, so the same build drew correctly on one
machine and collapsed on another, according to a setting in the operating system.
The fix is 0s in place of 0.01ms. Zero removes the transition instead of making
it very short, which is what reducing motion was asking for to begin with.
Also here: the tools accept an emoji wherever they accept an icon, so what an
assistant files looks like what a person files.
