Tisty 1.18.0-rc.1
Nothing to migrate: the log stays on schema 14, so this build and 1.17.1 read
each other's stores and you can update one machine before the other. Nothing
under the hood changed; what changed is how the build reaches a Mac.
One disk image for each kind of Mac
The releases page carries two images where it carried one: «macos-aarch64»
for a Mac with an Apple chip, «macos-x86_64» for one with Intel. The Apple
menu › About This Mac says which yours is — a «Chip» line names an M-series,
a «Processor» line names Intel. Each is half the download the universal one
was, and each is signed and notarised on its own. Homebrew picks the right
one by itself, and a copy already installed takes the update as always and
comes out of it as the half it needs; nothing to choose. A copy that was
being opened with Rosetta asks for the Apple Silicon build and comes out
native.
A release appears whole or not at all
The page is written as a draft and shown only once every file is up. A
release you can see has everything it names; before, it was created first
and filled after, and a stalled upload could leave it standing with half its
files, as 1.17.1 stood for most of an hour.
Smaller
The Store package is packed from the same bytes as the installer, rather than
compiled a second time for it. The privacy policy says that on a Mac the name
of the update downloaded names the chip.
This is a candidate: it reaches whoever asked for candidates, and the
«tisty-beta» cask.
