Tisty 1.11.0
Nothing to migrate: the log stays on schema 12, so this build and 1.10 read each
other's stores and you can update one machine before the other.
Tasks now say when, not only what
Priorities sort what matters; the spread decides when. It is a river of days you
scroll rather than a week you page: every day is a row, and the row grows with
what it carries, so a heavy Friday is tall and a free Tuesday is a line. What you
wrote with no day waits in a tray on the left and you drag it onto a day, or drag
it back to take the day away again. Drop one onto a day that already carries
three and Tisty says so, and offers the next day that is free — it does not
insist, and it never offers a day that has already gone.
A month button is there for looking, not for dealing: the same days lay out as a
grid, you press one and land on it in the river. Nothing is dropped there on
purpose. Tisty cannot see the calendar you keep somewhere else, so a square with
nothing written on it is only that, and never a promise that the day is yours.
The panel beside the list learned the same week: seven days with what each one
holds, and in a narrow window a strip along the foot that opens on a press.
An hour to ring at, from any of the three doors
A task can carry an hour to ring at, and now every way into Tisty can set one.
The window could already; the command line gains set --remind and
--unremind, and an assistant can file one through the remind tool or with the
task itself. It rings on the machine that holds the store and nowhere else, since
there is no server to ring for you while the computer is off.
An hour that has already gone is refused rather than kept. The reading window
looks back twelve hours, so a moment behind that would never sound, and storing
it would leave you — or the assistant that filed it — believing an appointment is
covered when nothing will happen.
A routine that slipped still knows its own day
A repeat is a phase as much as an interval: every Monday is Mondays, and a
routine you did not tick on time is still Mondays. The week ahead was starting
its walk at today's midnight instead of at the series, so a Monday routine read
on a Thursday announced itself for Thursday while ticking it produced the Monday,
and a monthly one left unkept vanished from the strip although its real turn fell
inside the week. Both parts now walk the same way.
Routines also come with what they have kept: how many turns in a row, the longest
run, and the last few drawn as beads, with the ones you skipped shown as skipped.
One house style, kept by the build
Priorities, tasks and the spread each had their own type scale, corners and
opacities: eighteen sizes, twelve radii, nine veils, so the same thing looked
different depending on which view you were in. There are now six sizes, three
corners and three veils, one role each, and a test that fails the build when a
new value appears. The system font is used in its three optical cuts, so small
text is drawn with the cut meant for small text instead of a shrunken body face.
Tasks, lists, tags and the archive moved onto the same desk Documents already
used: sheets of a reading width on a desk, with the day and the open task in
lanes beside them that make room when there is room and step back when there is
not. The list no longer shrinks to fit whatever is open next to it.
