Tisty 1.0.5

An assistant could keep a file with a task and nowhere else. The document was
the one place large things belong — a recording, a deck of slides, a scan too
big for a journal — and the only way one got there was for you to drag it in
yourself.

attach now takes a task or a document, one or the other. Named a document, the
file is added at its end as the same line the window writes when you drop
something in: the picture shows, the file opens, and it reads as though you had
put it there. What was written stays where it was.

The ceiling comes with the place. A task copies what you set it to, up to 50 MB;
a document copies up to 500 MB, which is what the window has always allowed one.
When a file is too big the refusal says which of the two it is talking about, so
an assistant that is turned away from a task can be told where the file actually
belongs instead of shrinking it.

Nothing else opened. It still takes files only from where a download lands, only
of the kinds it may keep, judged by the bytes and not by the name; nothing is
copied until it is known where it goes; a document you put away is refused; and
the file is copied into Tisty rather than pointed at, so it stays after you move
the original. A document that has no room left, or that already carries as many
files as one is read with, says so before the copying starts rather than after
it.

Underneath, a file no longer passes through memory to be copied. It is read and
written a little at a time and hashed as it goes, and one already kept is
compared to it side by side. A recording of half a gigabyte used to cost more
than a gigabyte of memory — once to read it, once to compare — which on a small
machine is not a refusal but a program that stops. It now costs the same as a
photograph.

The number stays in the 1.0 line, as it will until the door opened in 1.0.0
works the way it was announced.
