Changes since v2.1.0

Highlights of version 3.0.0 include:

• DirectWrite is now used to render text in the playlist view, playlist switcher, Filter panel, Item details, Item properties, status bar and status pane.

  DirectWrite includes many text rendering improvements, including the latest version of ClearType, support for colour emojis and full support for variable fonts.

• The Fonts tab of the Colours and fonts preferences page has been redesigned. It now uses DirectWrite to enumerate and preview fonts, allows fractional font sizes to be entered and allows customisation of variable font axes.

• A new Text rendering tab has been added to the Colours and fonts preferences page, allowing DirectWrite text rendering to be customised.

• New $set_format() and $reset_format() title formatting functions were added to Item details. The older $set_font() and $reset_font() functions are now deprecated.

• Item details and the Artwork view now use Direct2D for rendering.

• The Artwork view now allows the foobar2000 picture viewer to be opened on click and via the context menu.

• Ctrl+Tab and Shift+Ctrl+Tab can now be used in tab controls in the main window to switch to the next and previous tab respectively.

• The default dark mode playback button icons were tweaked, and some other minor dark mode improvements were made.

There were also numerous other smaller improvements and bug fixes (covered in the detailed change logs for the pre-release versions).

Note that the Platform Update for Windows 7 is now required when using Windows 7.
